ATEEZ, a well-known 4th Gen boy group from South Korea, makes their comeback with their EP ‘THE WORLD EP.2: OUTLAW.’ Consisting of 8 members, ATEEZ debuted on October 24, 2018, with the album ‘Treasure EP.1: All to Zero.’ ATEEZ quickly became popular, especially with their performance for the track “Pirate King.”
‘THE WORLD EP.2 : OUTLAW’
Nearly 5 years after their debut, ATEEZ continues to bring something new to every comeback. Their EP ‘THE WORLD EP.2 : OUTLAW’ consists of 6 songs, with the title track being “BOUNCY (K-HOT CHILLI PEPPERS)” on June 16.
‘THE WORLD EP.2 : OUTLAW’ includes other tracks titled ‘This World’, ‘Dune’, ‘DJANGO’, ‘Wake Up’, and ‘Outlaw’. This album includes themes of desiring freedom and releasing oppression. All tracks of this EP have a darker and electronic feel with a variety of harmonizing vocals mixed with rap breakdowns. This EP showcases a new sound ATEEZ has yet to show in the past.
Starting with “Outlaw” which has a hypnotic and futuristic sound with a lot of clean vocals. “This World” has an eerie sound with the lyrics “I’m Ready for the dark” almost like an operatic tone of vocals mixed with electronic beats. “DJANGO” has a mellow tone throughout compared to the rest. “Wake Up” shares the futuristic tone that “Outlaw” has but with more electronic and higher-pitched vocals.
“BOUNCY (K-HOT CHILLI PEPPERS)”
The title track ‘BOUNCY (K-HOT CHILLI PEPPERS)’ is a mix of electronic and pop. The song is energetic, powerful and has a distinct synth base. The whole album carries the theme of the desire to become free. Many fans have speculated some of the lyrics are euphemisms, with lines such as “Slow it down, make it bouncy, starting now, fly”.
The MV follows the 8 members participating in different activities. The video follows themes of a biker gang, cowboys, and an underground fight club, in which various members take part in. ATEEZ delivers amazing choreography, matching the energetic and powerful themes of the track. The choreography delivers addictive moves such as the “train ride” and “limbo.”
