4th gen K-pop powerhouse ENHYPEN has released their highly anticipated 5th Mini Album ‘ORANGE BLOOD.’ The mini album, which was released on November 17, consists of five tracks belonging to multiple genres.
“Sweet Venom” is the lead single, featuring a funk/pop sound. The single features a groovy baseline and narrates the story of the boys who realize their mortality. Despite any poisoning, they promise to stay by your side. The track beautifully and skillfully portrays the boys’ realization that ‘your’ poison (or venom) is sweet. What’s even sweeter is that this track is available in three different versions: The original Korean version, an English version, and a collaboration version with Bella Poarch. Notably, member JAY worked alongside producers to create the Korean version.
ENHYPEN takes things further by incorporating elements from “DARK MOON: THE BLOOD ALTAR,” a HYBE webtoon created for the group. As the webtoon intertwined with the established storyline for this album, we can see that their artistry goes beyond music.
The remainder of the album contains “Mortal” (R&B/Soft pop), “Still Monster” (Pop Ballad), “Blind” (Alternative R&B), and “Orange Flower (You Complete Me)” (Soft Pop). We can see that the genres featured on ‘ORANGE BLOOD’ have a significant range and that ENHYPEN has worked tirelessly to provide us with a quality album. The album continues to transcend their musical expression and encapsulate layers of emotions that represent their connection with fans.
ENHYPEN obtained inspiration from the embodiment of “Carpe diem” and their commitment to loving as if it were their last. ‘ORANGE BLOOD’ seeks to express the boys’ determination through the orange light. Juxtaposing their previous project, ‘DARK BLOOD,’ ‘ORANGE BLOOD’ builds upon the narrative from the previous album. It unfolds a more vibrant chapter where the boys inherit an unwavering pledge to “you.” Additionally, ENHYPEN will partake in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in the U.S. on November 23.
