For the 35th episode of Run Jin, Hollywood actor Tom Cruise graced the show as a guest during his Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning promotions in South Korea. Representatives from both teams confirmed the surprising collaboration a week before the episode’s release, making it highly anticipated for fans all over the globe. It officially premiered last May 20 on the BANGTANTV YouTube channel.
Run Jin is led by BTS’ oldest member, Jin, who started the Run BTS! spin-off right after completing his military service in 2024. As a comeback present for ARMYs, Jin brought back the one-of-a-kind excitement Tuesdays bring with various new challenges and surprises at his heels. And one of these thrilling surprises just happens to include a special interview with a global action star.
One-on-One with Tom Cruise
The episode begins at a studio set as the ever-familiar Mission: Impossible theme sets the mood. Jin becomes a host for this interview, introducing Tom to the viewers before he joins him for a brief yet wholesome chat.
Jin breaks the ice with the classic “Do you know BTS?” Whether you’re a long-time ARMY or not, this question has been a humorous way for Koreans to gauge a foreigner’s knowledge of their country. Matching his energy, Tom eagerly answers, “Yes! I know BTS. We all know BTS.” This results in a resounding laugh from Jin and the crew.
Additionally, Tom shares his appreciation for the boys, congratulating them on their impressive achievements. He also expressed his happiness about being a guest on Run Jin, as he’s a big fan of them. In response, Jin recounts his precious childhood memory with Tom’s films, “The first movie I saw when I turned fifteen was Mission: Impossible starring Tom Cruise.” The admiration was apparent from both sides, shaping the rest of the interview’s warm vibe.
Following this exchange, Jin asks Tom about the things that made a big impression on him about South Korea. With this being his 12th visit, Tom mentions his love for the people and their culture, including their food, music, and fondness for films. Speaking of food, Jin talks about “mulhwe (spicy raw fish soup)” and recommends that he try it during his stay. And he did! The episode’s final moments feature a video of Tom giving a positive review after taking a bite of the dish.
They went on to talk about the latest Mission: Impossible movie, giving a behind-the-scenes look at how they filmed the death-defying stunts and their seven-year production. Jin then taught Tom the show’s “Run Seok-jin!” tagline before finally saying their goodbyes.

Time for Mission: Jin-Possible
But that wasn’t the end of the episode! Run Jin wouldn’t be complete without our host being thrust into a challenge that’ll most likely stress him out (in good fun). After the interview, Jin immediately sets off to Yangpyeong for an impossible—or, as the episode calls it, “jin-possible”—mission of his own.
His task was simple: to clear missions and deactivate a bomb to save humanity—all in under 15 minutes. The four missions include throwing darts, scavenger-hunting in a maze, passing through a spider web trap, and deciphering the bomb’s code. Sounds easy enough, right? Despite only having two tries, he impressively showed his quick wit, ingenious solutions, and endearing slapstick skills.
The episode concludes with a preview of the next episode, which unfortunately happens to be the last one for this spin-off. However, Jin doesn’t let us dwell too much on this news as he recently announced his #RUNSEOKJIN_EP.TOUR kicking off this June at Goyang Stadium! While this might be the end of Run Jin (for now), there are still a lot of surprises to look forward to in the coming months—starting with the tour. See you there, ARMYs!
