Two sisters. One switch. Zero idea how much it will change their lives. Our Unwritten Seoul is tvN’s newest romantic coming-of-age drama, premiering on May 24. It stars Park Bo-young in what may be her most challenging role yet. The series gives the classic twin-switch trope a raw, emotional twist like The Parent Trap, but deeper, more grounded, and painfully real. Here, the characters feel less like caricatures and more like reflections of ourselves.
For the first time in her career, Park Bo-young plays four distinct personas—and yes, one of them marks her stunning blonde debut. Sharing the screen with GOT7’s Jinyoung, they navigate themes of love, identity, and self-discovery. Our Unwritten Seoul promises to deliver strong character transformations, soul-stirring depth, poignant storytelling set against the ever-changing backdrop of Seoul—and possibly, a new fan-favorite Park-Park pairing!
The Story: Switched Lives, Shared Secrets
Our Unwritten Seoul follows Yu Mi-ji and Yu Mi-rae, identical twin sisters who look alike but live completely different lives. After a twist of fateful lies, they end up swapping identities. What begins as a desperate choice leads them down a soul-searching path of unexpected romance and hidden pain.
Yu Mi-ji is full of energy and optimism. Once a promising track star, she now works various part-time jobs after her athletic dreams were shattered. Despite setbacks, she stays cheerful and is loved by those around her. With her bold new blonde look and spirited charm, Park Bo-young brings Mi-ji’s resilience to life, as her story is far from finished.

Yu Mi-rae, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. Polished, meticulous and highly driven, she works in a public corporation’s planning and strategy team. She has followed a flawless academic and career path, earning the “perfect daughter” title in her hometown. However, behind her success lingers a pain she’s never revealed. Each day, she goes through the same monotonous routine, gradually leaving her emotionally drained and exhausted.
Once they switch roles, each sister begins to live the other’s reality, forcing Park Bo-young to capture not just two, but four emotional layers: Mi-ji, Mi-rae, Mi-ji pretending to be Mi-rae, and Mi-rae pretending to be Mi-ji. It’s a performance that showcases her depth, complexity and emotional range.

Blonde, Bold, and Unforgettable: Park Bo-young’s New Look
Park Bo-young’s transformation into Mi-ji catches our eyes in the latest stills and posters. With bright blonde hair and a hopeful gaze, she brings a new vibrancy to the screen. Mi-ji may have lost her athletic future, but her strength and smile remain.

The newly released posters, titled “Mi-ji’s Seoul”, show her standing alone by the Han River, bathed in the golden light of dusk, her blonde hair catching the breeze as she gazes toward the horizon. Her expression quietly aching with questions she can’t yet answer. Behind her, the Seoul skyline glows with possibility, yet she stands still, suspended between the past and what’s yet to come. The tagline reads: “Yesterday has ended, tomorrow is far away, and today’s Seoul remains unwritten.”
The imagery is quiet yet powerful, perfectly echoing the drama’s core message: when your past is behind you and your future unclear, all you can do is face the present, uncertain, but full of possibility.

Jinyoung as the Reserved Yet Intriguing Lee Ho-su
Opposite Park Bo-young is Jinyoung, portraying Lee Ho-su, a top attorney at a prestigious law firm. He’s intelligent, composed, and widely admired. But underneath his calm surface lies a quiet struggle. Lee Ho-su longs for a peaceful and ordinary life, but his demanding career rarely allows it.
Everything changes when an unexpected meeting disrupts his routine. Inner conflict brews beneath his refined image, leaving us wondering: Who or what has shaken his world?
Jinyoung shared that he was drawn to the role because of how raw and real it felt. “The way the characters try to live normal lives while hiding deep-seated scars resonated with me,” he said, adding that he was especially curious about how he could portray the character of Ho-su. He described Ho-su as someone going through a kind of emotional adolescence—sincere, soft-spoken, and deeply guarded.
To embody this complexity, Jinyoung focused on subtle acting choices, aiming for a calm, restrained delivery. “I thought of Ho-su as someone who has many lines but doesn’t say much,” he explained. “I wanted viewers to feel his presence in the pauses by slowing down my breathing and speech to let his silence speak louder than his words.” This deliberate and introspective approach only heightens the intrigue surrounding his on-screen transformation.

A Glimpse into Their Worlds
The teaser trailer offers a quick but powerful contrast between the two sisters’ lives. We see Mi-ji, now a cleaner, energetically getting through her day. Meanwhile, Mi-rae struggles to keep up in the high-pressure corporate world. Both end their days collapsing into bed, whining in unison—exhausted but still pushing forward.
In a voice-over, one of them reflects: “Yesterday is over… tomorrow is far away… and today… is still unknown.” It’s a line that captures the entire mood of the show and the vulnerable journeys ahead.
Themes to Watch: Growth, Identity, and Love
At its heart, Our Unwritten Seoul is more than just a case of mistaken identity. It’s a story about healing, second chances, and redefining oneself. Each character carries emotional wounds, and each episode peels back another layer. Viewers can expect quiet reflections, tension-filled secrets, and slow-burning romance.
Jinyoung highlighted that the drama’s biggest draw lies in the hidden truth, “the tension where their secret is on the verge of being discovered but stays hidden.” This delicate balance of suspense, soulful healing and heartwarming storytelling makes Our Unwritten Seoul a series we believe will linger in our hearts long after the final episode.
