On May 7, 2025, South Korean pop-rock band DAY6 released their 12th digital single titled ‘Maybe Tomorrow’. ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ contains two tracks; its lead single track also named “Maybe Tomorrow”, and its B-side “game over”. In the usual DAY6 fashion, both songs are from the pop-rock genre, with relatable lyrics and nostalgic sounds. The single was launched during the band’s third world tour, titled “Forever Young,” which kicked off in September 2024. The excitement reached new heights when the first live performances of “Maybe Tomorrow” and “Game Over” were unveiled at the opening concert of the Seoul finale series of the tour.

“Maybe Tomorrow”

“Maybe Tomorrow,” the title track of the single, envelops listeners in a warm, dreamy atmosphere. This rock ballad is defined by its soft, subdued instrumentals that create a wistful sound. The lyrics are crafted to offer comfort, gently alluding to the promise of a brighter tomorrow. In the song, the narrator is amid a listless, bone-chilling unhappiness and hopes for better days ahead – that “tomorrow” will bring warmth to their heart and new beginnings will start. The music video conveys this hopeful message by showing the band in dreamlike sequences, matching the dreamy quality of the song. To accompany the music video for “Maybe Tomorrow”, DAY6 also released a lyric video featuring animations portraying the song’s emotions.

“game over”

The B-side of “Maybe Tomorrow,” titled “game over,” sharply contrasts with its more comforting counterpart. This melancholic break-up song, set in a minor key, evokes a gloomy pop-punk vibe, powerfully capturing the emotional weight of lost love.One of the song’s main characteristics is its strong, groovy electric guitar line and ominous, monotone keys. The song’s lyrics paint the image of an unfulfilling, one-sided relationship. As implied by the track’s title, the one-sidedness prompts a “game over” to the relationship.
