Setting forth on a new journey as a six-member group, Queenz Eye is back with their mini-album, ‘PRISM EP.01.’ As part of this new chapter, the band released three tracks, including the retro synth-laden title track “Feel the Vibe.” In the song, Queenz Eye leads listeners on this new path with a positive and uplifting message on top of an upbeat, joyful melody. Further into the album, the group shows off their range with the B-sides “ACHA!” and “TRIPPIN,” integrating pop, Hip-hop and R&B into a single release. POP TOKKI had the opportunity to chat with the girls of Queenz Eyee about this new chapter and ‘PRISM EP.01’; check out our interview below!

POP TOKKI: Congratulations on your newest project! Each song is amazing and follows such a retro, groovy sound. What inspired you to go for that style?
WON CHAE: They were sounds we really liked, and I think we chose songs that weren’t too heavy or too light, and the performance could really shine through. Since it was both our long-awaited comeback and our debut album, we also chose bright songs that fit the keyword “beginning.” Given that the release was in summer, we picked tracks that matched the summer vibe. These are precious songs we carefully selected after a lot of thought, so I hope many people will love them!
AH YOON: Above all, we really wanted to choose a genre that could showcase the unique charms of all six members. After a lot of thought, we felt that a retro funky sound would bring us together as one and let us really show off our performance. Since all the members have bright and energetic personalities, we thought it would fit us perfectly.

POP TOKKI: Are there any other sounds you’d like to experiment with in the future?
SEO VIN: I want to try music with a rock band sound. I usually enjoy rock music anyway, and I’m curious how our six different vocal tones will blend with a rock band sound!
SEO HA: I want to try music that’s emotional and has a warm, cozy vibe.

POP TOKKI: Where would you say your biggest inspiration is drawn from when creating a new project?
WON CHAE: Definitely from our fans! I think the most important thing is imagining what side of us they want to see. Our fans are the ones who gain strength through our music, and at the same time, they’re the biggest source of strength for us too. So whenever we make an album or make any decisions, our fans naturally become the standard we follow. Another key point is considering what strengths we can best showcase at that moment, or what message and mood of Queenz Eye we want to express with that project!
AH YOON: I think I get the most inspiration from conversations with the people around me, like friends or the other members. When we talk, I find myself thinking, “Oh, that person felt this way when that happened,” or “That’s how they dealt with it,” or “This is what they’re into these days.” Then I imagine how I would feel in that situation, and those thoughts keep sparking new ideas one after another.
POP TOKKI: Since you have a new lineup, what has helped you build a cohesive team chemistry?
KIIRII: I think the most helpful thing in building strong team chemistry was talking to each other a lot. We really try to understand one another by having conversations about how we’re feeling and how we can stay happy together.
JIN YUL: While we were going through difficult times together, we opened up to each other, cried together, ate delicious food, and leaned on one another! Those moments really bonded us and made us the team we are today!

POP TOKKI: How would you say this album describes you all as a group? How should fans perceive you after hearing it?
KIIRII: This album gives the feeling of a new beginning, a new journey. We wanted to show both the existing members and new members starting fresh together. Since we expressed it with the energy of all members, I hope fans can feel that energy through the album and our performances.
SEO VIN: This album carries a lot of meaning about “new beginnings.” It reflects us being solid and enjoying ourselves during the new start. A “new beginning” can be scary and overwhelming, but we’re standing at the starting line, full of excitement and certainty, trusting in ourselves and in each other. Through this album, we wanted to show us moving forward with strength. I hope fans listening can feel courage and comfort, and that our energy can reach them and give them strength.
POP TOKKI: How do you think you’ve grown as artists since you began your music career? Do you feel that it was fully reflected in your newest project?
JIN YUL: While preparing for debut, I thought a lot about how to deliver the meaning within each song to our fans. That process made me put even more heart into my performances, and I think I grew a lot from it! Of course, I still lack experience in being completely relaxed on stage or finding the camera easily, but I feel like I’m learning more with each performance. I’m looking forward to growing even more from here!
SEO HA: For me, this comeback is also my first time standing in front of the public. It hasn’t been long since I started performing on stage, but little by little, I’m learning how to smile and express my feelings naturally while performing.
POP TOKKI: If you could describe yourself as any lyric on the album, which would you choose and why?
AH YOON: I’d choose my line from Feel the Vibe: “망설임 따윈 kick (translated to “Kick away hesitation”).” I think it suits me because I’m the type of person who, once I make a decision, acts on it without hesitation. It was such a coincidence that I got to sing that part, and it made me perform it with even more confidence.
KIIRII: I’d choose my part: “발걸음 맞춰 달려 지난날들은 안녕 (translated to “Step in sync and run, goodbye to the past”).” It feels similar to my life right now, saying goodbye to the past and being ready to run forward into a new journey.
POP TOKKI: What word would you use to describe your everyday “vibe?”
Jin Yul: My everyday vibe is “focused.” I’m always completely absorbed in something.
Seo Ha: For me, it’s “sparkle.” Since I’ve just debuted, I feel like this is the moment I need to shine brightly and burst with energy.
