Fans of the K-pop girl group Alice (BLRIS) have been eagerly awaiting the group’s latest comeback, “Show Down.” Announced at the beginning of April, it had been almost six months since the group released “Dance On,” the first comeback as Alice after rebranding from Elris. Unfortunately, members Do-A and Yeonje were not present due to health issues, but members Chaejong, EJ, Yukyung, Sohee, and Karin held it down for this single album.
“Show Down” is a bright and modern concept for Alice that shows off their dance skills and vocal talents. The simple electronic instrumental allows the vocals to shine and pierce through. The bubbly synth line pushes the vocal punch of the chorus over the top. Alice’s vocal line is incredibly talented, and this track shows just how gifted they are. The music video and lyrics emphasize a message of empowerment in this girl-group anthem. They also push the audience to embrace their individuality and challenge the perceptions of others. “Show Down” showcases a shift in choreography for the group and their choreography is becoming sharper while posing more of a challenge for the girls.
‘Show Down’ features one B-Side, titled “Dizzy” and is one of our favorite Alice B-Sides to date! The beautiful vocals in the chorus combined with the instrumental create a track that will be on repeat all summer. The choreography and lyrics are also incredible, making it a strong contender for Song of the Year.
“Show Down” is a great sister single to “Dance On” as they both show the talents of this underrated girl group. We loved this latest release from Alice and we will be keeping our eyes out for anything else this incredible group does!
