Korean pop star CHUNG HA released her long-awaited EP, ‘Alivio,’ on February 12, 2025. Alivio means relief in Spanish, which captures the profound moment when emotional or physical pain, stress, or anxiety begins to fade. With this meaning in mind, CHUNG HA divided the album into two parts. Part one reflects the weight and tension of stress (Tracks 1-3), while the second part celebrates clarity and peace after overcoming it (Tracks 5-8).
The eight-song track list of Alivio includes the title track, “STRESS,” a vogue-esque pop song about prioritizing one’s mental well-being over others’ expectations.
“STRESS” serves as the album’s turning point, tying everything together flawlessly. With this title track, CHUNG HA encourages listeners to let go of their troubles and embrace a carefree attitude. ‘Alivio’ explores the power of liberation, urging listeners to break free from their boundaries, release their constraints, and rediscover their true selves.
Alivio Collaborators
‘Alivio’ has many collaborators that CHUNG HA has frequently worked with previously. Vietnamese-American artist thủy worked on the song “Creepin.'” Sunmi, a long-time friend of the singer, is featured in the song “Salty.” This is what CHUNG HA said in regards to working with the two artists:
“I had the chance to work with some amazing people on this album. thủy and I worked together on the ‘Hair Down’ remix and while we were finishing that up, she sent me the song and the lyrics for ‘Creepin.’ It just clicked, so we decided to include it. And Sunmi, she’s like a sister to me. We’ve been friends for so long, so working together on ‘Salty’ felt super easy and natural. I’m just really thankful and honored to have worked with such talented women on this album.”
‘Alivio’ will be the first time CHUNG HA has complete creative control over an album, from selecting songs and writing lyrics to shaping the tracklist. What started as a blank state became a beautiful project representing her musical vision and identity. ‘Alivio is a true testament to her artistry and commitment as she heads into the next chapter of her career.
