As we officially enter the winter season, we’re immediately greeted by an avalanche of holiday music to warm our spirits, and right on top of the list is fromis_9 (HAYOUNG, JIWON, CHAEYOUNG, NAGYUNG, JIHEON) with their special digital single, “White Memories.” The track serves as a reimagining of actor-singer Kim Min-jong’s 2001 hit “White Longing,” brought back to life with a modern spin. Released on Dec. 2, it was accompanied by an equally festive music video featuring the original singer himself.
After signing with ASND earlier this year, fromis_9 returned with their sixth mini album, ‘From Our 20’s.’ Despite being their first release as a quintet, their signature charm and refreshing energy were still as clear as the day they debuted. Following their June comeback, the girls headed out on their first-ever world tour,[Now Tomorrow.], starting with a three-day concert at Jangchung Arena in Seoul. They then performed in the U.S., Japan, and Taiwan before successfully concluding the tour in Hong Kong last October.
Fresh from tour, they’re back again with a sweet treat for fans before the year ends. “White Memories” is a holiday song through and through, with its bright instrumentals and overall festive mood. But beneath the feel-good vibes are lyrics that depict someone yearning for their absent lover. Like snow that disappears after it falls, all that remains of their memory are the happy moments they faintly remember. The track leaves listeners with a nostalgic glow, and it’s not just because it’s a remake of an early 2000s classic. Rather, it’s thanks to the girls’ warm vocals that the feeling truly shines through.
This year has been an absolute whirlwind for fromis_9, from starting anew as a five-member group to embarking on their first world tour. These milestones are fruits of their hard work and dedication, steadily growing with every new opportunity. And from what we’ve seen, one thing’s for sure: 2026 will be an even bigger year for the girls.
