K-pop girl group Billlie has returned with their newest single, “cloud palace,” releasing two versions to bring their long-running ‘palace’ trilogy to a close. Serving as the pre-release track for their upcoming album, ‘The Collective Soul and Unconscious: Chapter Two,’ the release highlights the group’s evolving artistry. Through the versions, all seven members showcase their versatility across genres while reflecting the musical growth and depth they’ve developed throughout the years.
The single carries a dreamlike, atmospheric sound that leans into Billlie’s introspective side. Built on soft jazz chords and subtle R&B rhythms, it floats rather than pushes forward, like drifting between sleep and waking. The message reveals that the “cloud palace” waiting at the end of the fog and maze isn’t something external but something found within ourselves. While it feels like a conclusion, it also works as a quiet starting point, one that lets Billlie look forward to the next story built upon that understanding. As for the versions, they feel like two moods within the same dream.
Right after the release of “cloud palace ~ false awakening,” POP TOKKI took part in a roundtable interview with Billlie to chat all about this new chapter!
POP TOKKI: How did the song “cloud palace ~ false awakening” evolve from being an unreleased fan-meeting track to an official comeback single?
SHEON: This is SHEON. We first shared the song at a mini fan meeting, and we really focused on how honestly “cloud palace” could be conveyed, which reflects Billlie’s current perspective. As we prepared for our comeback, we worked to preserve the energy and feelings we shared with our fans at that time while refining the sound, arrangement, and vocal details with greater care to elevate the overall quality. By adding richer sounds and textures that could be worked with in the studio, I think we were able to complete it as a full pre-release single.
POP TOKKI: If this track were your introduction to someone new, what would you want them to take away about Billlie?
MOON SUA: This is MOON SUA. I hope listeners who are discovering Billlie for the first time can take this pre-release single as a way to experience our world and storytelling. I want people to feel that Billlie is a group that explores diverse music and narratives. Since this is the third part of the ‘palace’ trilogy, I also hope listeners check out “M◐◑N palace” and “$UN palace (Stroop Effect)” along with “cloud palace” and experience that new feeling. This series holds many charms, so please take a listen to it!

For those who got to know Billlie through “cloud palace,” I hope they can feel that our music leaves room for individual interpretation, instead of presenting a story with a clear answer.
