Girl groups are dominating the 4th generation of K-Pop. Debuting in the early years of the 4th gen, ITZY made their voices heard loud and clear. With ” DALLA DALLA” being a girl power anthem, ITZY immediately became one of the girl boss groups of K-Pop; while each title track trends on social media, people fail to see the gold in their B-sides. Here are some ITZY B-sides for you to add to your playlist!
1. TING TING TING
“TING TING TING” makes this list because every time we hear it, we become runway ready. This upbeat EDM/ Pop track utilizes onomatopoeia in the chorus to mimic a ringing bell. “TING TING TING” is a fun and perfect party song. With the help of dutch DJ Oliver Heldens, “TING TING TING” is the ideal soundtrack for any event in our lives. Parties, fashion shows, you name it!
2. Cherry
“Cherry” made its way around the internet after the release of Itzy’s first mini-album ‘IT’Z ICY’ in 2019. “Cherry” is an electrifying track full of synths and heavy bass. ITZY introduced their rapping skills in “Cherry,” as it is the first Hip-Hop song of their discography. Before the release of ‘IT’Z iCY,’ “DALLA DALLA” was the most rapping we heard from the girls. “Cherry” was a new sound for ITZY in 2019, and in 2023 ITZY has become accustomed to Hip-Hop tracks and delivering them effortlessly.
3. #Twenty
Viral is not even the word to use for “#Twenty.” After being mixed with “Homecoming” by Lil Uzi Vert, the mashup rose to popularity on Tiktok and became a heavily used sound on the app for months. With the rising popularity, many people listened to each song by themselves and loved them. In “#Twenty,” members Ryujin and Yuna show off their new and impressive spitfire rapping skills. This song celebrates the end of teenagehood and the beginning of their twenties. The girls show excitement with the endless opportunities ahead of them in their twenties.
4. Shoot!
ITZY takes autotune, trap beats, and a futuristic sound to create a catchy song we’ve been singing for the past week. “Shoot” is ITZY’s signature sound; it’s delicate and colorful while maintaining a Hip-hop feel. The trap elements don’t overshadow the girl’s voices and preserve the delicacy. “Shoot” is about a girl wanting a guy to shoot his shot at her. Once again, ITZY brings a powerful girl boss message to their discography.
5. WANT IT?
ITZY’s first b-side, yet it does not get enough love. ITZY embraces their inner pop-punk princess by giving us a fun tune reminiscent of the early 2000s. “WANT IT?” being ITZY’s first B-Side set the stage for the rest of their career. ITZY is loud and proud in this song, like most of their songs; we hope ITZY will pull from this genre more often!
