ASTRO member Moonbin knows how to make us smile! One of his most charming attributes is his sense of humor. Here are just a few of those moments where he made us laugh so hard, we were in tears!
Chilling Atop the Fridge
The band plays a form of hide and seek in this episode ASTRO ZONE, where the first hider is Moonbin. Moonbin manages to find an exceptionally unique place to hide – rather than hiding under a table or in a cupboard, he climbs on top of the refrigerator. Because of this ingenious hiding place, the members struggle to find him for a while. Later, he helps the seekers, the “zombies” find each other member and as always adds to the chaos of ASTRO.
Is That a Dolphin, or Moonbin?
Although there are no dolphins in landlocked Almaty, Kazakhstan, we swear we heard one in Astro’s green room at Star of Asia 2018. We’re not sure what Moonbin was doing here – maybe a vocal warmup? Or perhaps opera singing? In any case, this iconic ASTRO PLAY shows him screaming for seemingly no reason (although maybe that’s just a normal ASTRO occurrence), then doing a strange dance challenge to the amusement of his bandmates. Later in the video, he, Cha Eunwoo, and Jinjin attempt the “Annyeong Cleopatra” game, where they take turns trying to speak in higher and higher voices. Moonbin’s pitch eventually reaches glass-break levels, and he keeps us all gasping for air as he struggles to reach it.
“Scream In Silence” on Knowing Bros
Speaking of screaming, we need to talk about Moonbin playing the “Scream In Silence” game with bandmate Cha Eunwoo on Knowing Bros. “Scream In Silence”, also known as “The Whisper Game”, is always a hilarious staple to any variety show, but it’s especially funny when Moonbin keeps guessing the words wrong. Every hint from Eunwoo gets extremely misconstrued, revealing how dastardly Moonbin is at the game. Luckily, he fares a little better when he’s the one giving the hints!
Needing to Pee… On NATIONAL TV?!!
We’re sorry for including this embarrassing moment, Moonbin… but we had to! This moment is just too iconic to pass up. During an Idol Weekly interview on KBS World, Moonbin seems extra jittery to teammate MJ. Then, he suddenly cries out his anguish and expresses that he needs to pee – in the middle of the interview! His leader Jinjin reminds him to turn off his microphone to avoid any excrement noises from being picked up, but he still forgets, so we are all treated to the sounds of him flushing the toilet. The moment has since become an inside joke for AROHAs, but don’t worry Moonbin. It’s only natural!
Smelling People on Weekly Idol
Moonbin’s fan-given title of “puppy-kitty” isn’t just for his cat-like visuals or puppy smile. There’s another part of his face that’s remarkably puppy-kitty-like – his nose. This idol’s olfactory senses empower him to identify his members at a whiff’s notice. Moonbin’s super-sniffing was tested on an episode of Weekly Idol, where he had the most hilarious reactions to being forced to smell his members – and the Weekly Idol hosts. The skill has been the subject of many of ASTRO’s gags, and his disgusted expressions have us in stitches every time.
