K-Pop’s no.1 Award show, the 2024 MAMA AWARDS, kicks off in Los Angeles on Nov. 21 at the Dolby Theatre before it officially starts at Osaka, Japan’s Kyocera Dome on Nov. 22-23, 2024. A 25-year growing legacy, the MAMA AWARDS have been at the forefront of K-pop’s expansion, with award ceremonies hosted across Asia. This year’s ceremony will focus on “BIG BLUR: What is Real?”. Reflecting on the blurred lines and boundaries of industry, culture, music, and technology. With this concept, the awards ceremony will present surreal but real experiences showcasing visually captivating performances through the convergence of art and technology.
On Oct. 9, a new category and updated criteria were announced for the 2024 MAMA AWARDS, setting a new standard for K-pop award shows. The new criteria update reflects not just album sales but various successes from the artists, like album packaging, visuals, song quality, and more. “Best Choreography” is a new category that will recognize K-pop choreographers and artists who have contributed to K-pop’s global success with its carefully crafted visuals and synchronized dance moves. Nominations for the 2024 MAMA AWARDS will be aired on Mnet and its official YouTube channel, Mnet K-POP, on Oct 14 at 6 PM (KST).
