Kim Jae-won shakes up Yumi’s love life as he joins Yumi’s Cells Season 3 as her third and possibly final love interest. Known for his charming presence and growing list of acting credits, Kim Jae-won will star alongside Kim Go-eun in the latest season of the beloved series.
Adapted from the popular webtoon of the same name, Yumi’s Cells follows the everyday life of Yumi, a seemingly ordinary office worker, as told through the inner workings of her whimsical brain cells. Each cell is responsible for her thoughts, emotions, and decisions. Unsurprisingly, the first two seasons captivated audiences globally with impressive ratings and continued fan adoration.

The story picks up in the upcoming third season with Yumi, now a successful romance novelist. Despite achieving literary acclaim and a loyal readership, Yumi still finds love her greatest challenge. But things change when she meets Shin Soon-rok, a refreshing presence stirring her uneventful cell village back to life.
Portrayed by Kim Jae-won, Soon-rok is a new PD at Julie Publishing’s editorial department. On the surface, he’s calm, logical, and straightforward. A man ruled by his “rational cell”. Yet beneath that cool exterior lies a disarming charm. While he lives a quiet, routine-driven life, he faces unexpected changes after being assigned to work with Yumi, whose “emotion cell” is always in chaos.
Speaking about his role, Kim Jae-won expressed his excitement, saying that joining a well-loved project feels new. He promised to bring the character of Soon-rok to life in the best possible way and thanked fans in advance for their support and love.
In addition, this isn’t Kim Jae-won’s first time working with Kim Go-eun. The two will co-star in the upcoming Netflix original You and Everything Else. Since his acting debut in 2021, Kim Jae-won has made notable appearances in dramas like King The Land (2023), Hierarchy (2024), and The Tale of Lady Ok (2024). Fans can also look forward to seeing him in the upcoming projects The Art of Sarah and You and Everything Else.
