KBS2’s newest drama My Girlfriend is the Man! is set to release on July 23. This upcoming rom-com features the same heart-fluttering moments we all love, but with a unique twist. Starring ASTRO’s Sanha and OH MY GIRL’s Arin, it promises a refreshing and satisfying watch.

My Girlfriend is the Man! follows the everyday life of Park Yun-jae (Sanha) and Kim Ji-eun (Arin), a normal university couple who are very much in love with each other. However, everything changes when Ji-eun suddenly turns into a man! She still has her memories and acts the same way as the person Yun-jae loves, but this unexpected event significantly shifts their relationship. Will she ever turn back?
In its first teaser, our main couple’s dynamics before and after the transformation can be seen. The romantic mood, as their sweet moments play out on screen, quickly changes when male Ji-eun enters the picture. While it appears their meeting didn’t start well, the following scenes show them slowly getting along again — albeit with Yun-jae getting flustered each time. Through a narration, we can hear him ask, “Could this unbelievable situation also be one of the miracles I share with Ji-eun?” This continues to tease the conflict Yun-jae faces and his eventual feelings for his girlfriend in her new form.
The drama is based on a webtoon of the same name by massstar, who’s also known for the vampire romance unTouchable. While the central concept of the adaptation is the same, there seems to be significant changes to the story. One of these is Kang Min-ju, a new character solely from the drama and Ji-eun’s rival in love.

My Girlfriend is the Man! isn’t just a treat for rom-com enthusiasts; it’s also a special gift for K-pop fans. Sanha as Park Yun-jae
Following his young brother role in Romance in the House (2024), actor Sanha is back — now as a romantic lead. He’ll be playing as Park Yun-jae, astronomy student and Ji-eun’s affectionate boyfriend. When his beloved girlfriend suddenly turns into a man, he’s riddled with all sorts of thoughts. Nevertheless, he makes it his mission to help Ji-eun adapt to the change and find out how to turn her back.
With the drama’s distinct yet appealing plot, Sanha’s performance sparks anticipation from excited viewers. His nuanced acting as a man seeing his girlfriend in a new light, literally and figuratively, will be a must-watch.
Arin and Yoo Jung-hoo as Kim Ji-eun (Kim Ji-hun)
Playing each other’s counterparts are Arin and Yoo Jung-hoo. Their character, Kim Ji-eun, is an endearing and optimistic girl who loves Yun-jae deeply. Her peaceful days take a sharp turn with her transformation, prompting her to ask her boyfriend for help. Arin’s soft looks and gentle personality naturally transfer over to Ji-eun, brightening up every scene she’s in.
To avoid raising suspicion, she starts going by the name Kim Ji-hun (Yoo Jung-hoo) after her change. She’s still the same person on the inside, but her newly handsome visual piques the attention of many — including her stressed boyfriend.
This unconventional setup could be quite a fun challenge for the two actors who are essentially playing the same role. It’ll be interesting to see how they matched each other’s portrayals, highlighting their extra effort and dedication to the role.
Chuu as Kang Min-ju
With her inherent charm and captivating smile, Chuu will step into the shoes of Kang Min-ju. Like Yun-jae, she’s also an astronomy major, which might be how she caught feelings for the said boy. She’s known on campus as the “it-girl,” praised for her striking beauty and easygoing nature.
Despite Chuu’s previous experience in web dramas, this’ll be her first time as one of the main cast in a television series. Because Min-ju wasn’t in the original webtoon, her presence will serve as a breath of fresh air — adding a new twist to the familiar story readers know.

My Girlfriend is the Man! premieres July 23, taking over the 9:50 PM KST time slot on KBS 2TV. It’s officially slated for 12 episodes, with one airing every Wednesday and Thursday. International audiences can also enjoy the show, as it’ll be available for streaming on Rakuten Viki and Viu.
