TRENDZ is ready to take the K-pop industry by storm with their 2nd single album ‘Blue Set Chapter. New Dayz.” The 7 members Havit, Leon, Yoonwoo, ra.L, Eunil, and Yechan debuted in January of 2022. Since their debut, TRENDZ has released hard-hitting tracks with captivating visuals to match. On March 15, TRENDZ closed out the chapter they opened when they debuted. ‘Blue Set Chapter. New Dayz’ is an end of a chapter, but the beginning of something new.
“New Dayz” is a head-bopping pop-punk song. The song features a lovely guitar that flows faultlessly with their vocals. The build-up in the pre-chorus leads up to a pleasantly surprising slight anti-drop. The second chorus is met strongly with rap verses and more delightful harmonies that meet our ears with satisfaction. The music video follows the groups through their good times and bad times. The video switches back and forth between the members being beaten by a masked gang of people, and the fond memories the members shared. The music video’s strong storyline highlights TRENDZ’s friendship as they go through thick and thin together.
Along with “New Dayz,” ‘Blue Set Chapter. New Dayz’ features two new songs worthy of praise. “Nightmare” is a dark R&B/Pop song that puts us in a dreamlike state. The dreamy aspect of “Nightmare” is all but a nightmare. It’s a unique sound that only a few K-Pop groups can execute well, and TRENDZ is one of those groups. The spontaneous chorus differs from the monotone start of the song. The song ends in the same dreamy way it begins. “Nightmare” is a compelling song, from start to finish. “Fantasy” is a soft pop song about a boy going back to a fake neverland to save his friends. The theme of friendship is running rampant in this album which is even more adorable because TRENDZ’s fandom’s name is FRIENDZ! “Fantasy” is a light and airy song with neat arrangements, so the track doesn’t feel messy.
