Following the conclusion of their ‘OK’ series in May, CIX has returned with their 1st single album, ‘0 or 1.’ Featuring 2 tracks, ‘0 or 1’ highlights a shift in CIX as they transition into a new sound and concept. In two songs, the group tells the tale of love, ranging from confessions to devotion.
In the dance-pop track, “Lovers or Enemies,” CIX asks the audience to choose between being their lover or their enemy. The group gives two choices throughout the song emphasizing that there are only two choices, with lyrics like “embrace me or become my enemy” and “baby you’re killing me or baby you’re healing me.” The track maintains a particularly mellow vibe, with synths virtually reminiscent of retro music. In the music video, we see the members going through simulations as they are robots trying to determine whether their feelings are love or hatred. As the flowers blossom on each member, we can identify that the feeling is love.
Following “Lovers of Enemies,” “그림자 (My name is shadow)” is a soft ballad that explores the concept of loving and supporting someone, whether their own presence is known or not. CIX refers to themselves as “shadows” of their lovers due to their willingness to stroll behind their lovers, offering them unwavering support. CIX uses “그림자 (My name is shadow)” to convey the beautiful message of devotion and unconditional love.
