Billlie’s latest comeback shows yet another new side of them! Billie is a seven-member girl group under Mystic Story. Members Moon Sua, Suhyeon, Haram, Tsuki, Sheon, Siyoon, and Haruna are back with a new album. Their series, ‘The Billage of perception,’ is in its third chapter. The chapters before this and their title tracks are the Billage of perception: chapter one, their debut, “RING X RING,” ‘The Billage of perception: chapter two,’ “RING ma Bell,” and the newest album from Billlie: ‘The Billage perception: chapter three’ with their title track “EUONIA.” If you’re wondering about their other title tracks, “snowy night” and “GingaMingaYo,” they are part of a separate series titled ‘the collective soul and unconscious.’
‘The Billage of perception: chapter three’ released on March 28th, with the title track “EUONIA” and five additional new tracks. The “EUONIA” music video features a similar style to NewJeans’’ “Ditto” or tripleS’ “Rising” with multiple school sets, unique choreography sections, and a general Y2K vibe throughout. “EUONIA” is a funk-pop song with Y2K-style elements embedded in the track production. The lyrics of “EUNOIA” are about being different around someone you have a crush on.
The bold Billlie sound and lyricism continue throughout the album. Some genres featured on the album range from Nu Jazz to Disco Pop as displayed in “Lionheart (the real me) and “Nevertheless.” “Lionheart (the real me)” and “nevertheless”. “Lionheart (the real me)” has a darker, alternative sound, which contrasts perfectly with lyrics about breaking through self-doubt and becoming more robust and braver as a result. “Nevertheless” boasts an experimental synth-pop instrumental and lyrics about falling for someone and thinking about them all the time, even when they’re not present.
Overall, we think that this album from Billlie is one of their strongest yet, and we are excited to see what new boundaries Billlie will push in their next comeback! (We are also excited to see where their interesting lore takes them in the next chapter!)
