BOYNEXTDOOR TEASES "NO GENRE" OUT MAY 13 • POP TOKKI

BOYNEXTDOOR have released a track sampler for their upcoming EP “No Genre,” set to release on May 13 at 6PM KST. This sampler offers a look into the versatile and emotional tracks the group is releasing, staying true to their relatable and instinctive style and sound.

The sampler starts off with “Step by Step,” a city-pop track layering smooth synth melodies and polished rhythms. This track captures the breezy feeling of a fleeting season you wish could last just a little bit longer. In the video, the group is styled with a retro-punk vibe, wearing stylish and uniquely “BOYNEXTDOOR” suits, still offering their familiar playfulness while singing in a mature sound.

Following this track, “Next Mistake” offers a groovy, jazz-lie song tinged with melancholic undertones, highlighting each member’s distinct vocal tones and abilities. The song exudes bittersweet emotions, woven into its funky beat and emotion-driven lyrics. The sampler shows this song in black and white, making the vibe feel more sophisticated to fit with the yearning lyrics.

“Is That True?” comes next, a total 180 to the previous songs. The lighthearted, refreshing song is upbeat and bouncy, infused with a funky rhythm sure to deliver a fun and engaging sound. During this song, the sampler shows members WOONHAK and LEEHAN singing in an elevator packed with business professionals, making the song and its presentation lighthearted and amusing.

After, “123-78,” a romantic nod to classic ’60s pop-soul, is performed with a retro-style stage with mic stands and a heavy vintage influence. The song is hopeful and passionate, and shows another side of BOYNEXTDOOR listeners haven’t heard yet. “123-78” has already proven to be one of the group’s more unique tracks, reinstating that the group are masters in any genre.

The sampler’s finale, “I Feel Good,” is bursting with a bold “rockstar” flair and a captivating, dynamic choreography. This song channels BOYNEXTDOOR’s signature energy, playfulness, and confidence, leaving the album sampler on a cheeky and youthful note.

BOYNEXTDOOR members JAEHYUN, TAESAN, and WOONHAK contributed to writing and producing a majority of the tracks, with WOONHAK participating on every track on the EP. These three members have played a key part in shaping the album’s sound and lyrics, combining the group’s signature sound with their own unique perspectives and twists, solidifying a genre that is distinctively BOYNEXTDOOR’s. Before the sampler’s release, the group revealed a three part concept trailer: “No Matter,” “No Route,” and “No Limit.”
