We at POP TOKKI are more than excited about the Barbie movie. Cute outfits, a star-studded cast, and lots of pink; and we mean lots of pink. If you can’t tell, we really like pink. We decided to put together a list of idols with doll-like visuals that give us major Barbie and Ken vibes, just in time for the year’s most anticipated movie.
Somi
Of course, the idol dubbed ” The Barbie of K-pop” is first on this list. Somi is a Barbie doll fresh out of the box. This blonde bombshell has flaunted her golden strands for many years and has been recognized for her similarities to a classic Barbie doll. As the cherry on top, She has interviewed some of the Barbie cast in anticipation of the movie! You can’t tell us that she’s not a living Barbie Doll.
Yeosang – ATEEZ
Kang Yeosang is one of ATEEZ’s “visual” members, often being compared to a doll or statue for his perfect appearance and distinct facial features. Whenever his hair is dyed blonde, Atiny makes the joke that he has gone back to his original hair color, implying that blonde suits him very well so well that it looks natural. Along with his looks, once Yeosang breaks out of shyness, his humorous, fun, and teasing personality shows he is a very lighthearted and kind person. Yeosang has been directly compared to Barbie and Ken in edits made by fans which have gained many interactions. Atiny can all agree that Yeosang is a perfect example of ATEEZ’s own Barbie.
Fatou – BlackSwan
When Nicki Minaj said “I’m the F-ing Black barbie,” she might have been talking about Black Swan’s Fatou. Being a model before joining the K-pop industry, Fatou’s beauty is something that one can’t help but notice. Standing at 5 foot 8 inches tall with an impeccable sense of style, Fatou is K-pop’s first Senegalese idol. Her uniqueness within the world of K-pop gives her an edge, making her a one-of-a-kind doll. But the true Barbie factor is her confidence and ability to stay grounded and relatable despite her fame.
Ricky- ZEROBASEONE
Zerobaseone’s Ricky captured fans from around the world during Boys Planet for his charismatic appearance, mysterious personality, and most memorable of all his strikingly blonde hair. with his distinct facial features and fashionable clothing choices, Ricky stood out as a memorable trainee. Other than looking the part, Ricky was known as the constant with the best fashion sense on Boys Planet, where he showed off his expensive, stylish clothing. His overall appearance makes him a perfect candidate for one of K-pop’s Ken-like idols.
Wonyoung – IVE
Wonyoung’s doll-like visuals are unreal. Give her Barbie’s signature blonde hair, and she’d be Barbie’s doppelgänger! Her elegent and unique sense of fashion, mixed with her delicate facial feautures and tall frame makes her real life Barbie doll. Her appearence at the Suecomma Bonnie X Barbie Pop-Up shop shows us how much of Barbie she really is. She fit in perfectly with the wall of Barbie dolls, we almost thought she was one of them!
V- BTS
V, Kim Taehyung, or Ken? V has been gifted many titles by fans and the media. Whether it’s the title of a prince or a Greek god, BTS’ V gives off major Ken vibes with his charming personality and quirks. You can see the Ken influence in previous BTS eras like ‘Persona’ and ‘Love Yourself Her’ which included bright hair colors, and daydream-like concept photos. With the vibrant hairstyles and addictive personality, he was serving Ken in the best ways possible. Additionally, he has an amazing eye for fashion and could pull off any look or style given to him. V isn’t afraid of experimenting and having fun, which is all that Ken is about.
Taeyeon – Girls’ Generation
Taeyeon has been apart of the “Barbie-line” since 2015. She’s never afraid to try different shades of blonde, and each shade suits her pefectly. Taeyon tapped into her Barbie roots with her comeback “Weekend,” as she’s drapped in all pink with beach blonde hair, the ultimate Barbie combo. Top top it off, she shares the same birthday with the real Barbie! What more do we need to say? She’s a doll!
Yeonjun – TXT
With his distinct fashion and soft yet alluring facial features, Yeonjun of TXT in Barbie-coded through and through. He is known for his strong on-stage charisma and ability to captivate any audience which earned him the title of K-pop’s “4th Gen It Boy.” Whether he is rocking a pink bomber paired with a floor length slitted denim skirt or just wearing shorts and a hoodie, his aura brings a fit to life. Like a true Barbie, he oozes confidence in any situation and embodies “pretty in pink.”
Yuna – Itzy
If it’s one thing ITZY’s “Icy” era showd us, it’s how much of a Barbie Yuna is. Her blonde hair and Constantly being praise for her Barbie-like physique and facial features, Yuna and others refer to her as Barbie. Her large eyes and small face make the perfect doll like facial structure. Her doll like looks are a hot topic on social media with every post she makes. Woah…the power she has is impressive.
Wonho
When thinking of Ken dolls, Wonho comes to mind as the perfect fit. His fashion choices couple with his blonde hair make for the perfect example of an idol representing the beloved children’s toy. This can be seen especially in his “Blue” MV. Throughout the MV there are bits and pieces of him wearing a white tank top and washing a car, this entire set within the video just further shows just how Ken-coded the lovely Wonho is.
