What does your heart truly desire, and how far would you go to get it? In the new series The Art of Sarah, Sarah Kim (Shin Hae-sun) aspires to become a luxury icon, even if it means faking her identity. But her world crumbles when a body believed to be hers is found in a sewer by Detective Park Mu-gyeong (Lee Jun-hyuk), pulling him into a twisted investigation as he chases her trail.

The Art of Sarah premieres Feb. 13 with eight episodes, only on Netflix.

What is The Art of Sarah About?

As Netflix’s first Korean mystery thriller of 2026, The Art of Sarah explores the life of Sarah Kim, a woman who climbed the social ladder by faking her entire identity. Rather than a simple “whodunit” crime story, the series focuses on the dark side of human ambition and how far someone will go to live a life that was never theirs. The drama pushes viewers to wonder — if a lie looks and feels real, does the truth even matter?

The story follows the point of view of Detective Park Mu-gyeong, who serves as the audience’s eyes while he searches for the truth. As Sarah’s story changes and becomes more confusing with every new piece of evidence, Mu-gyeong digs through the inconsistencies of her past. He eventually faces the unsettling possibility that “Sarah Kim” might not actually exist. Across eight fast-paced episodes, the series takes viewers on a psychological hunt through Seoul’s wealthiest districts to uncover the secrets buried beneath the luxury.

A Long-Awaited Reunion in The Art of Sarah

For the fans, this series marks a highly anticipated reunion for Shin Hae-sun and Lee Jun-hyuk. Nine years have passed since they last shared the screen in the 2017 popular crime thriller Stranger (Secret Forest), where they played fellow legal professionals.

But now in The Art of Sarah, their dynamic changes. The two leads face off as a mysterious suspect and a driven detective. Director Kim Jin-min (Extracurricular, My Name) notes that the intense and high-tension chemistry between the two actors will keep the audience on edge during every encounter. Having worked together before, they share a mutual trust that helps them deliver the emotional depth needed for their roles.

Shin Hae-sun as Sarah Kim

The latest stills reveal the many faces of Sarah Kim, and they couldn’t be more different. In one shot, she’s the picture of high-society elegance, draped in sparkly jewelry and expensive couture. In another, she wears a hollow, empty expression while in uniform or stares coldly into the distance, leaving us to wonder what she’s really thinking.

On paper, Sarah is the head of the Asia branch for the ultra-luxury brand “Boudoir.” Yet, behind the status lies a mystery. Her name, her past, and even her education are hidden behind a veil of secrets. After her incredible performances in dramas like Mr. Queen and Welcome to Samdalri, fans are excited to see how Shin Hae-sun handles this dark, multi-layered transformation.

Lee Jun-hyuk as Park Mu-gyeong

Lee Jun-hyuk brings a sharp and steady charisma to the role of Park Mu-gyeong, a detective with the Seoul Metropolitan Police’s Violent Crimes Unit. His world gets turned upside down when he’s assigned to a gruesome murder case in which a woman was found frozen in the heart of Cheongdam-dong’s luxury district, her face brutally crushed.

The new photos show Mu-gyeong’s persistent side as he pores over witness statements and case reports, determined to find out who the victim really was. While some stills show him looking calm and confident in the interrogation room, others capture him looking genuinely unsettled. It seems that as the truth about “Sarah Kim” starts to leak out, even a veteran detective like him can’t help but feel the confusion. Lee Jun-hyuk is set to deliver a cold and sharp performance that anchors the show’s tension.

Meet the Supporting Cast

New stills also introduce the people connected to Sarah, and their relationships raise plenty of questions. We meet her close friend, Jung Yeo-jin (Park Bo-kyung) and a former Boudoir employee, Woo Hyo-eun (Jung Da-bin).

The photos also feature the powerful chairwoman of Samwol Department Store, Choi Chae-woo (Bae Jong-ok), and her personal secretary, Kang Ji-hwon (Kim Jae-won). Finally, Hong Sung-shin (Jung Jin-young) stars as the CEO of a loan company. These connections leave us wondering how they all met Sarah and whether any of them ever saw her true self.
