It’s hard to scroll past K-pop spaces right now without seeing the name LNGSHOT. On Jan. 13, the new self-producing boy group from Jay Park’s label, MORE VISION, officially debuted with their first mini album, ‘SHOT CALLERS’. Consisting of leader Ohyul and members Ryul, Woojin and Louis, LNGSHOT is the first boy group to debut under the label.
Following the late 2025 release of their pre-debut ‘4SHOBOIZ MIXTAPE’, the group made waves with a surprise appearance at the Hanyang University Festival and a highly praised performance alongside Jay Park at the 2025 Melon Music Awards. After building hype with the pre-release single “Saucin’,” the group went viral with their title track “Moonwalkin’.” Since then, they have become the fastest 5th-generation boy group to hit 1 million streams on Spotify in a debut week.

Who is LNGSHOT? An Identity Grounded in Talent
As its name suggests, LNGSHOT carries the meaning of a “long shot.” A decisive blow to turn the tables when the odds of success are slim, but you take the risk anyway. By choosing this name, the group shows they aren’t afraid of the uphill battle because they’re determined to flip the script on K-pop with a genuine attitude toward music and culture.
Taking their first shot at the industry with ‘SHOT CALLERS,’ the EP title is particularly meaningful as the members take the lead in their own creative direction. LNGSHOT wanted to show who they really are rather than following a manufactured idol formula. Their musical and visual identity is rooted in authenticity, and this EP is an extension of the raw energy found in their pre-debut mixtape.
As artists, the members participated in the overall production of the EP by writing their own lyrics, composing and arranging tracks. The five-track album contains different sounds such as hip-hop, R&B, pop and dance. The members never overshadow each other as they carefully tune and record every track to make sure each of their individual personalities shines. By handling everything from the music to the choreography and video concepts, ‘SHOT CALLERS’ acts as a map for where LNGSHOT is heading next.
“Backseat”
“Backseat” opens up the EP with a powerful 808 bass over a classic boom bap rhythm. The hip-hop track says that while others race to the front just to be seen, LNGSHOT will stay in the “backseat” and win what they want in their own way. The witty vocal samples, which connect with the song’s theme, are a response to anyone who doubts their grind. It explains the “behind-the-scenes” work society rarely sees, but they will continue to put in the hours, do the heavy lifting for the team, and stay true to their craft even when the cameras aren’t rolling.
“Saucin'”
Pre-release track “Saucin'” brings a strong message about having confidence in your own style. In a clever bit of storytelling, Jay Park appears in the music video as a figure representing an industry and also haters in general that tries to take away the group’s “sauce” to make them fit a standard mold. This song has an impressive, simple and energy-overflowing hook that anyone can follow, set over a powerful Memphis hip-hop rhythm. The lyrics further drive home their ambition to prove that LNGSHOT has the attitude and charm to create an entirely new flow.
“Moonwalkin'”
Sensuous vocals glide over an addictive guitar riff and sophisticated trap rhythm in the pop-trap lead single, “Moonwalkin’.” Referencing Michael Jackson himself and his iconic move, the track compares the struggle of youth to a moonwalk, where you push forward even when you feel like you’re sliding back into uncertainty. The metallic foil-like outfits in the music video reminded fans of the late-90s rave culture and Y2K futuristic aesthetic.
The track has especially attracted international attention to the group because of viral vocal moments of Louis and Ohyul. Louis has undoubtedly been praised for his rare and smooth vocal color, with many comparing his unique “teen-pop” vocal tone to a young Justin Bieber. Fans have also fallen for the track’s refreshing and crisp fusion of R&B and hip-hop.
“FaceTime”
“FaceTime” reinterprets the old-school R&B sound, defined by rich harmonies and flashy ad-libs, into LNGSHOT’s style. The track captures the fresh and fluttering emotions of love and the simple desire to video call or “FaceTime” a loved one from anywhere at any time.
“Never Let Go”
The final track on the EP, “Never Let Go”, is an alternative pop song that contains the honest and pure emotions of the members who are passing through the middle of their youth. With a composition that delicately builds and magnifies emotions through expert control of vocal dynamics, it shows that LNGSHOT is a team that can naturally digest and master a wide variety of musical styles.
