This week we saw the return of big names like NewJeans and RIIZE while being introduced to new artists and subunits from our favorite groups. Here’s POP TOKKI’s weekend round-up for Saturday, June 22!
“Supernatural” – NewJeans
New Jeans gifted us with another catchy tune that will linger in our minds for weeks. “Supernatural” pays homage to the popular 80s genre, New Jack Swing, with its groovy beats and smooth melodies. From the vintage aesthetics to the nostalgic sounds, this track solidifies New Jeans’ immaculate discography.

“Boom Boom Bass” – RIIZE
Another groovy tune to help us bounce through the week. RIIZE is no stranger to guitar-driven tracks, but “Boom Boom Bass” features a groovier baseline than what we usually expect from the group. This distinguished bass guitar takes control, driving the funky rhythm and melody, hence the song’s title.

“Might Just” – SWEET REVENGE
The multi-ethnic J-pop group SWEET REVENGE is a fierce trio demonstrating their strong vocal and rap skills in their debut single, “Might Just.” The music video follows an anime/video game aesthetic while showing off the members in their own spaces as they come together through their screens. This track follows an R&B, and colorful pop sound thanks to their flawless harmonies and spunky synths—establishing an impressive start to their career as a group.

“Let It Burn” – H1-KEY
H1-Key takes on an angsty teen rock aesthetic in their new track, “Let it Burn.” The mid-tempo beat is driven by an electric guitar and lyrics highlighting a love that ceases to exist. To cope with the disappearance of this love, H1-key suggests “burn it all down,” alluding to the memories they’ve once shared with their former lover. Leaving the love in the past, the group chooses to leave the memories in ashes.

“Badder Love” – EVNNE
EVNNE returned with the melodic and youthful summer track “Badder Love.” In this track, the group expresses gratitude to their fans, focusing on reaching their fans with love through their lyrics. As they reach their fans, they continue to chase their dreams side by side. “Badder Love” serves as a reminder to their fans that they too are a part of EVNNE’s journey to the top.

“Last Night” – JeongHan X WonWoo
SEVENTEEN’s new unit featuring members Jeonghan and Wonwoo gifted us a mid-tempo track led by a fiercely plucked Latin guitar (played by Juwon Park). As the chorus arrives, a surprising anti-drop turns the track into a relaxed, synth-heavy song with a nonchalant vibe.
