Previous to “Day That I Died”, Woosung, a Korean-American musician, singer, songwriter, and composer, made his solo debut in 2019 with the EP, ‘Wolf’. The title single, “Face,” quickly racked up nearly 20 million views on YouTube. Woosung is best known for being the vocalist and electric guitarist of the South Korean band The Rose. A multifaceted performer, he released his debut feature-length album, “Genre”, in December of 2021. He then embarked on multiple world tours commemorating his album ‘Genre’ and latest EP, ‘MOTH’ in 2022. The global sensation toured across the US, Europe, and Asia and the finale of the MOTH Tour in Seoul, the last of which gifted the sold-out crowd a reunion of The Rose. In addition to these successes, Woosung is beloved by his fans and constantly gaining more recognition after featuring on BTS Suga’s song “Snooze” alongside the legendary composer, Ryuichi Sakamoto.

His newest release, “Day That I Died”, is a melodramatic track that encapsulates the hollowness of a broken heart. The track is introduced to listeners with the steady sound of multiple piano keys before the rush of Woosung’s vocals comes flooding in through the speakers. Throughout the song, Woosung sings a longing tune about loss and the lack of willingness to move on. The song’s instrumentals are minimalistic with light piano and deep, soulful synth chords. The simplicity of the instrumentals showcases Woosung’s signature husky melancholic vocals. The song is haunting and beautifully morbid. “Day That I Died” came out just two years after Woosung’s last solo EP ‘MOTH’, and one year after The Rose’s last album ‘DUAL’.

Woosung’s upcoming second album ‘4444’ is set to release on October 4, 2024.
