To close out this summer of K-pop releases, rookie boy group TRENDZ released their most bright and sunny EP yet, ‘STILL ON MY WAY’. The group consists of seven members: leader Hankook, Havit, Leon, Yoonwoo, ra.L, Eunil, and Yechan. Members ra.L and Yechan participate in the album process as songwriters.
The EP features three tracks, including the title track “MY WAY”, as well as B-sides “Ven Conmigo” and “O.Y.E”. Unlike their last few albums that featured more experimental genres and darker tones, ‘STILL ON MY WAY’ delivers the nostalgia one would get while reminiscing about summer vacation. During our roundtable interview with TRENDZ, we asked the members about their musicality, their songwriting process, and what it’s like working with other producers.
“In your last few singles, you experimented with genres in each track. Why did you decide to stick with a general summer sound, aside from releasing at the end of summer?”
“The album’s concept of ‘youth’ gives it a bright and summery feel, even though it was released in early fall. But the album was released in early fall, which can be seen through our outfits. I think the bright image of youth and our message to go together really bring that summery vibe alive.” — Eunil
“Since your name is TRENDZ, what is one music trend you’d like to try in a future comeback?”
“Our previous albums have featured songs from a range of genres and concepts. The title track of this album falls into the drum and bass music genre, allowing us to showcase an exciting and free-spirited side of ourselves. Looking ahead to the next album, we’re eager to explore something entirely different, perhaps a sexy concept, or even delve into the hip-hop genre.” — Leon
