Seventeen’s Hoshi is known for his fluid-like movements, magnetic stage presence, and unmatchable energy on stage. He proves why he’s the performance unit’s leader every time he hits the stage. No choreography poses a threat to Hoshi’s dancing skills; he never fails to leave us stunned with how he turns any choreography into his own. Let’s take a look at some of Hoshi’s most iconic dance performances.
1. Cheers
When SEVENTEEN’s leaders get together, they create art. From “Change Up” to “Cheers,” the leader unit has delivered catchy hip-hip laced tunes with the ability to get anyone out of their seat within the first second of the song. When the leader unit made an unexpected return during SEVENTEEN’s ‘Sector 17’ album, social media was left in awe by a specific moment in the choreography. The build-up to the dance break before the last chorus features the members shaking their butts timidly before returning to an intense set of dance moves. Hoshi’s rendition of the dance move caught the attention of many Carats and non-Carats; the dance move soon became a trend of TikTok among the K-pop community and beyond.
2. Spider
We love using props in performances, so “Spider” by Hoshi was a pleasant routine to watch. From the very start, we see Hoshi hanging upside from bars like a spider. The bars continue to serve a purpose in the choreography as frames for Hoshi and his backup dancers as they hang onto them throughout the performance; later in the bridge, the bars are used as a frame for Hoshi to walk through, adding a dramatic effect to the routine. These bars can be seen as a physical representation of the webs that entangle Hoshi, as he expressed in the lyrics.
3. HOT
“HOT” was an era fit for every member; all thirteen members shined in their own way. Hoshi’s unwavering energy hit the audience with each stage, consistently displaying his passion for his career. The first post-chorus puts Hoshi on the frontlines to showcase his impressive stage presence. His fierce facial expressions pull audiences into his Tiger like gaze until the end of the performance. Along with his Tiger-like gaze in the post-chorus, the second pre-chorus Hoshi makes his way down the aisle of members with moves so smooth we didn’t think it was humanly possible.
4. Getting Closer
Although he didn’t get many center parts in “Getting Closer,” it was the perfect stage to show how Hoshi is never caught slacking with his dance moves. The opening of “Getting Closer” unleashes Hoshi’s inner tiger when he scratches the air matching the mark of a creature’s roar before the opening line. The second chorus secures Hoshi a center spot where he proves that the intricate choreography was made for him. The fast and sharp movements fit Hoshi’s dancing style flawlessly and leave a lasting impression of Hoshi’s dance expertise with the audience.
5. Rock With You
“Rock With You” is one of SEVENTEEN’s most complex choreographies. The dance requires a lot of body control and jumping, all while maintaining enough stamina to deliver their lines effectively. Hoshi embodies a burst of energy during the chorus; As he dances on stage, he moves with such power and grace that it appears as though he is soaring through the air during certain parts of the routine. Hoshi’s interpretation of “Rock With You” is the definition of talent. Making complicated choreography look simple is not easy, but Hoshi is a master at it.
Hoshi’s love and passion for dancing have never gone unseen. Every time he hits the stage, he proves why he deserves the title of Performance Team Leader. With each comeback, Hoshi’s skills improve in ways we didn’t think were possible. He never fails to impress us with his compelling dance moves.
