“Just Right” is GOT7’s most famous song and is an excellent representation of GOT7’s stage presence. GOT7, as a group, has a proficiency in martial arts, acrobatics, and b-boying (led by the fliers Jackson, Jay B, and Mark), which is heavily highlighted in this performance. The intro performance shows off the group’s dance coordination and skills, as well as their flipping skills. The main comeback stage of “Just Right” sets the bar for the group and other K-pop groups that come after them record-breakingly high.
“HOME RUN”
The only GOT7 single not to have an album or a music video, “Home Run” is a hit among GOT7 fans. The dance and song were very bouncy and energetic, and the group members enjoyed performing them. Released a few months after their chart-topping single, “FLY,” which seemed like a taxing performance for the members, it feels like a much-needed break for GOT7 before they embarked on one of their most intense choreography’s “Hard Carry,” which would be released shortly after that. The baseball iconography in their clothing and the references in the choreography add to this stage. Every member is doing something silly in this stage performance, which is a rewatchable stage performance.
“Home Run” was rarely performed live, and since it was not attached to an album, these stage performances are the only reference to this song and are a time capsule to this era of GOT7. It’s a stage performance to watch if you miss the “old” GOT7.
“IF YOU DO” (R&B Intro ver.)
Can anyone say, “So sexyyyyyy”?
This performance was the epitome of GOT7’s sexy bad-boy era, accompanied by the release of their song “If I Do.” While the main song is fast and aggressive, the R&B stage version slows things down. The stage choreography differs drastically from “If I Do”‘s original choreography, as they add glowing boxes as props to dance and stand upon sensually. This stage should have been titled, “If I Do (Body Rolls ver.),” as the body rolling of the group attacks you at every turn and makes you rethink your morals. Each member steals the show, but Jackson’s mesh shirt, which reveals his abs, and BamBam pulling down his jacket and vigorously body rolling in the center of the stage steals the viewer’s breath.
If you thought that the original “If I Do” concept was too sexy, watch this stage with caution.
“PAGE” (Concert ver.)
“PAGE” is the B-side beloved among GOT7 fans, but the concert performance blows the original song out of the water. The song was already a fan favorite before the concert performance came out, but the performance made the song a must-play for every GOT7 fan, new or old.
Throughout the performance, you can feel the synergy between GOT7 and the fans in the audience, and the high-energy performance resonates with the online viewer. It feels like you are at a party with your friends more than at a concert. Although the dance seems strenuous, especially in the middle of a concert, the members still play around and have fun with each other as usual. The vocals during the performance are surprisingly stable, even though they’re jumping around the large stage. Any performance of “PAGE” cannot be missed.
“MR. CHU” (GOT7 Cover)
GOT7 is known for its renditions of popular girl group songs on variety shows such as Weekly Idol. However, GOT7 performing “Mr. Chu” by Apink is their first foray into performing girl group songs in front of an audience, but certainly not their last.
Their cover is performed almost too flawlessly, as, despite the feminine dancing, it could be mistaken for a GOT7 song. Members Jinyoung and BamBam tap into their inner feminity and deliver an excellent dance performance. Mark also shows off his acrobatics and the group members do silly dances at the song’s end, showing off their individuality.
Overall, it’s amusing to watch, and although this was not supposed to be seen as a “serious” performance, the singing and dancing of the members were top-notch. It shows that GOT7 can do any musical concept, even a very girly one. It is a fun-filled performance that should be written down in GOT7 history.
“TEENAGER”
A song so good that their fans turned “Teenager” into an official single, this stage symbolizes modern-day GOT7 and their talents. While older GOT7 focused on sharp movements and acrobatics, modern GOT7 focused on precise, smooth dance moves. The song itself would become a bigger hit than the leading single of the album that it was paired with, “You Are.” The dancing is among the best of GOT7’s stages, which is complimented perfectly by the hip-hop/pop song it accompanies. Their charisma in this performance is unparalleled, with Jinyoung stealing the show with his rapping in the chorus and delivery of the line “I can do anything if you tell me a good boy.” The dance practice of “Teenager” will make you swoon at the boy’s charm and is worth checking out.
“NANANA” (Radio Ver.)
After GOT7 left JYP, many people in the K-pop community thought that the group had broken up. But with the release of their song, “NANANA,” GOT7 had proven those people wrong. While the group has not officially performed this song on a comeback stage, they did have a mini comeback tour where they performed their music on the radio. The stage felt like seeing old friends after a long time away, as this was their first official performance in over a year. The members were looking happy to be home with their chosen family, and the audience could feel that in the room and through the screen. This is a performance that any GOT7 fan should cherish.
Although the GOT7 members have not released an album since their 2022 EP, ‘GOT7’, they have told their fans time and time again that GOT7 and their fans are their biggest priority. The amount of time, effort, and dedication they put into every performance they have is because of how much they love their fans. And if these stages show their fans anything, they will always be their best for them.
