6 TRIUMPHANT LINES FROM STRAY KIDS’ “RUN IT”

Stray Kids is back with new single “RUN IT.” The song is a powerful anthem, blending world percussion, bold brass and an alternative hip-hop vibe. It gives listeners their first taste of the upcoming album “THIS & THAT,” set for release Aug. 7. The group will also launch a new world tour, kicking off in Seoul on July 10. While we count down to the album’s release, let’s dive into some of our favorite lyrics from the single!

“Even in the dark we find a way to make a way”

Many Stray Kids songs carry the message of struggling toward their goals. “RUN IT” features wordplay to illustrate how the group has overcome all the obstacles in their way. This line from Bang Chan helps establish the victorious vibe of the song. This moment is reminiscent of another Stray Kids track, “WOLFGANG.”

“I ain’t caught up in the glory, I still want more“

Humility is a value Stray Kids is known for. It’s reflected in Hyunjin’s rap as he vows that the group will continuously pursue their goals. Tracks like “CREED,” “GIANT” and the eponymously titled song “Stray Kids” also talk about this idea.

“Ooh trials and adversity trained me, feel me?”

Like Bang Chan’s line, Felix’s is about accepting hardships in pursuit of their goals — another recurring theme in Stray Kids’ music. This theme also appears in other songs such as “MIROH” and “Social Path.”

“From Seoul to the world now they know”

The focal point of the song is delivered by HAN, highlighting how the group’s originally local dreams have reached a global scale. It’s a message STAYs (Stray Kids’ fandom) will recognize from songs like “The View” and “Levanter.”

“The melody we used to hum, symphony”

With musical imagery, Changbin connects the members’ dreams to the career they’ve built together. “Chk Chk Boom” and “Victory Song” share similar themes. The rap he and HAN tag team at the finale is arguably the most powerful part of the song, serving as a recount of the members’ dreams, the pain they’ve faced, and their determination to keep moving forward.

“Run it everywhere all around the world”

All the members sing this line repeatedly throughout the song, alluding to their beloved slogan, “Stray Kids everywhere all around the world.” This message has been appearing since “MEGAVERSE” and even their debut song “District 9.”

Eight years into their career and with a discography built on trials and triumphs, Stray Kids celebrates both how far they’ve come and where they’re heading next with “RUN IT,” an anthem that truly proves they’ve made it.
