The near-future sci-fi anime RE:BEL ROBITICA, written by Tokyo-based artist Mika Pikazo and set in Shibuya in 2050, has been officially chosen for an anime adaptation. In 2017, the story for RE:BEL ROBOTICA started out as a personal work known as a doujinshi. The plot revolves around ‘Robotica,’ machines created in the image of humans, beings designed to serve humanity and bring happiness to people. It’s set in a future where dramatic advancements in information technology promise every Shibuya resident a comfortable and contented life in 2050. The world will be rocked by the protagonist, the mysterious Lily. This announcement includes a new key visual of ‘Lily’ smiling and reaching out to the viewer.

Mika Pikazo:
“The project subsequently expanded with “RE:BEL ROBOTICA Episode β (Beta),” developed together with screenwriter Ryo Yoshigami (known for the “PSYCHO-PASS” series). In 2022, two novelizations, “RE:BEL ROBOTICA 0” and “RE:BEL ROBOTICA” (written by Gakuto Mikumo) were each published by Shinchosha.“
Mika Pikazo is widely known for her bright and colorful artwork and is one of the most sought-after illustrators. Her credits consist of Disney, “Disney Collection by Mika Pikazo,” as well as character design for the Nintendo RPG “Fire Emblem Engage.” Additionally, Mika Pikazo has been appointed Key Visual Illustrator for “Anime Expo 2026.” Anime Expo is the largest event that celebrates anime, pop, and Japanese culture in North America.
Mika Pikazo:
“RE:BEL ROBOTICA,” which I created as a doujinshi work back in 2017, is becoming a TV
anime! Over many years, through countless discussions and collaboration with a great many people,
we have crafted a story about human beings living in a world where “happiness” has become
something to be taken for granted. Ever since childhood, I have been captivated by the question of happiness — what it
means to live amid duty and constraint — and I created this work out of a wish to
discover something within this world. Through its endearing characters and the lives of
the many people who appear in it, the work gives expression to both hope and a
sense of the uncanny. I do hope you will look forward to the original anime ‘RE:BEL
ROBOTICA!!”
Mika Pikazo will be at Anime Expo 2026, where she will present an exhibition during the “Amuse Creative Studio Presents: New Anime Launch Event” panel as well as at the Mika Pikazo × RE:BEL ROBOTICA booth WH-1364. Where special “RE:BEL ROBOTICA” mini-booklets will be distributed to attendees. As well as an exclusive first look at “RE:BEL ROBOTICA” teaser trailer featuring footage from the anime currently in production. The panel, “Amuse Creative Studio Presents: New Anime Launch Event,” will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 3:45 PM to 5:05 PM in room 404AB.
