Anticipated globally, ASTRO’s Cha Eunwoo debuts as a solo artist with the first mini album ‘ENTITY. Comprising six tracks, ‘ENTITY’ unveils Cha Eunwoo as his authentic self, Lee Dongmin, revealing the various facets of his personality. Also included on the album are “U&I”, “Fu*king great time”, “You’re the best”, and the CD-only track “Memories”. Overall, the album tells a story of heartbreak and loneliness through heavy R&B and pop ballads.
Comforting the Heartbroken
‘ENTITY’ is an album that tells a story through its songs and tracklisting. “STAY,” the album’s title track, is a melancholic country pop song with Eunwoo’s lyrics consoling those facing loss or heartbreak. On February 15th, Eunwoo released the music video for “STAY,” showcasing his acting skills. Although “STAY” serves as the title track of the album, it occupies the third position on the tracklist. It follows “U&I,” a jazzy song enriched with piano and guitar, and “Fu*king great time,” an R&B track that captures the rebellious emotions associated with the pain of loss.
The fourth track of ‘ENTITY’, b-side “WHERE AM I”, is an alternative rock track that succeeds “STAY” on the album. Eunwoo released the music video for “WHERE AM I” on February 19th. Similar to “STAY”, it was also filmed in the United States. “WHERE AM I” expresses an empty heart, loneliness, and longing. This song, despite its sad lyrics, contains a comforting overall sound, which fits into the overall theme Eunwoo is attempting to convey.
Eunwoo’s indie folk ballad “You’re the Best” follows “WHERE AM I,” expressing his feelings and appreciation for the support of loved ones. This is the last track Eunwoo left on all digital copies of ‘ENTITY.’ However, listeners of the CD have been treated to the CD-exclusive track “Memories”, a pop ballad memorializing the memories and feelings, both good and bad, that are always cultivated in companionships that last over a long period of time. Through the personal and heartfelt tracks of ‘ENTITY’, Eunwoo attempts to comfort listeners going through loss and pain.
Following the album’s release, Eunwoo embarked on his 2024 Just One Ten Minute: Mystery Elevator fan concert tour, starting in Seoul at Jamsil Olympic Stadium, where he performed the songs off ‘ENTITY’ for the first time for fans.
