With the release of their five-track third mini album ‘Bomb’, ILLIT has once again delivered a gentle, dreamlike album. Following the teaser release, fans were excited and eagerly waiting, as each concept became increasingly dreamier with each subsequent release. Each track on this mini-album perfectly complements the others, as they all carry a soft, upbeat, and easy-listening vibe. Their title track, “Billyeoon Goyangi (Do the Dance),” similar to the group’s previous releases, maintains the pop repetition of the chorus, making it immediately catchy and sure to get stuck in your head.
Beyond the title track, there are tracks like “little monster” and “bamsopoong” that have an ethereal atmosphere and chill, laid-back vibe. As well as others like “Jellyous” and “oops!” that carry an upbeat, funky pop vibe just like their title track. Overall, an album suited for mellow summer vibes.
“Billyeoon Goyangi (Do the Dance)“
This track is what you would expect from ILLIT. They have perfectly sculpted their unique sound within K-pop. The backtrack gives a bit of a 70s disco feel, almost reminiscent of groups like ABBA, adding a twist to their already catchy and upbeat single. Despite that, in the music video, Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, and Iroha are again battling the feelings of being awkward in front of their crush, something we can all relate to.
“little monster“
This B-side track was released before the title track, and their third mini-album was released. Also, as mentioned previously, “little monster” has a calm and soft, tranquil sound. A very different sound from the title track “Billyeoon Goyangi (Do the Dance)”, but still staying true to ILLIT’s image of girl power intertwined with cute and sweet. It’s as if they are taking over and fighting back against unwanted and unwarranted feelings and worries (little monster), as they rise, they turn into what seems like superheroes. It’s giving Sailor Moon, and we’re so here for it!
Once again, ILLIT has released a great album that can be appreciated by all types of listeners. A perfect combination of late-night, nostalgic, dreamy summer feel.
