Stepping out in a new light, izna, has released their third mini album ‘SET UP THE TEMPO’ featuring five new tracks, each encompassing a different sound but still complementing each other, creating a well-rounded release. Members — MAI, BANG JEE MIN, KOKO, RYU SA RANG, CHOI JUNG EUN, and JEONG SAE BI — are a K-Pop girl group who were formed on Mnet’s global project I-LAND 2, debuting on November 25, 2024.

Their name ‘izna’ stands for “anytime, anywhere, anything is na.” “na” meaning “me” in Korean. This meaning has been at the forefront of izna’s identity since their debut as they continue to grow, adapt, and express themselves through their music. Surpassing 400 million streams on YouTube Music in April 2026, with “SIGN” hitting 100 million, as well as their YouTube channel garnering 500 million views. A reflection of their growing global fanbase not only online but with sold-out shows of their first Japan fan concert, Not Just Pretty, in January 2026, and in Korea in November 2025.
‘SET THE TEMPO’
‘SET THE TEMPO’ shines anew on these Gen Z icons as they combine a variety of sound styles from Techno, UK Garage, 80’s New Wave, and more on this mini album. It includes five new tracks: “METRONOME,” “R.I.P.,” “INFINITY,” “ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS,” and “LEAN ON ME.”
“METRONOME”, the title track, was produced by world-renowned producer TEDDY alongside KUSH, VVN, and IDO. A metronome is known to keep a steady beat in the world of music. izna’s adaptation of this musical tool demonstrates the determination to create and follow one’s own rhythm without flicker, even in a multiplex world. “Just like the title of this album, we want to keep moving forward with confidence at our own steady tempo,” the members said. “We’ll show that izna is truly one-of-a-kind, and the group that can make any concept our own.”
A catchy song to let loose with lyrics like “wanna let go, feel the tempo…” or “music takes control, got me moving like a metronome”. Blending dreamy aesthetics with blurred repetition of sounds, catchy snare drums, and bass creates a track reminiscent of late 90s and early Y2K house dance tracks.
The music video for ‘METRONOME’ shows the members in various spaces searching for something while burning and breaking cassette tapes, while they finally find what they have been looking for, a glowing vinyl, where as soon as they play it, the visuals shift into colorful and dreamlike scenes. Perhaps, a metaphor for them finally finding their sound as they embrace the change and future of what izna is as a group.
The album’s B-side tracks showcase their musical expansion from past releases, such as singles “BEEP” or “SIGN”. “R.I.P.” feels like a modern 80’s new wave altered into pop-rock that boldly declares a break from the past and a confident leap toward something new. “INFINITY,” a slow-tempo pop track, is a heartfelt fan song. Members RYU SA RANG and BANG JEE MIN participated in the lyrical process, allowing them to fully express their sincerity, unconditional love, and trust for their fans.
“ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS,” is an upbeat pop track with some R&B-inspired moments. Inspired by the classic game, they create a playful meaning for themselves by exploring the psychological dynamics of relationships. Closing the album out with “LEAN ON ME,” another 80s-inspired synth-pop ballad track. Conveying a message of comfort and support, allowing them to be a warm place of solace during moments of uncertainty for fans.
Since their debut, izna has continuously expanded and strengthened the message of their group name. “Anytime, anywhere, anything is na”. ‘SET THE TEMPO’ adds another chapter to this message of what they can achieve in sound, and as a group, as they grow, they can transform into anything, anytime, anywhere.
Catch izna this summer at KCON LA in August, both on The Artist Stage and at M COUNTDOWN!
