In just one year, KiiiKiii, a rapidly rising Gen Z girl group in K-pop, which consists of Jiyu, Leesol, Sui, Haum, and Kya, has released their second mini album, ‘Delulu Pack.’ The title of KiiiKiii’s second mini-album, ‘Delulu Pack,’ represents a fresh start for the new year, allowing them to exist authentically and freely. A reflection on the girls’ New Year’s resolution to continue as a group on their own terms while reshaping their reality. The album incorporates new sounds and narratives, taking a different direction from their debut mini-album.
With a total of six tracks, this mini album exudes a sense of freshness, catchiness, ease, and airiness. “404 (New Era),” “Delulu,” “UNDERDOGS,” “MUNGNYANG,” “Dizzy,” and “To Me From Me” (produced by TABLO of Epik High) are the songs. featuring a range of sounds, including retro Korean pop, disco, house, and bass. With its emphasis on humor over seriousness and attitude over answers, “Delulu Pack” conveys a clear message. With “Delulu Pack,” KiiiKiii is refining their identity while broadening their musical horizons.
“404 (New Era)”
KiiKii reimagines the well-known web error code “404 Not Found” as a symbol of freedom without direction in the title track “404 (New Era)”. The song features relaxed rap sections that perfectly complement the vocals, along with UK house and garage-inspired rhythms. KiiiKiii’s Gen Z sensibility is combined with full-bodied movements in the choreography to create a model-like vibe that highlights a bold and self-assured presence.
The music video for “404 (New Era)” blurs the boundaries between reality and dreams, showcasing significant instances in which KiiiKiii’s lighthearted illusions permeate everyday life. With an emphasis on “the version of myself I once pictured” with who they are now, or rather, becoming, the video revisits special childhood moments when each member dreamed of becoming famous. Using glimpses from their past to their present, the video tells a relatable story.
The video complements the song with its early Y2K dance vibe, full of glittering visuals mixed with simple yet effective flashbacks of the girls and Y2K fashion. The video displays a young, carefree vibe of all the girls, showcasing the youth, fun, and exciting new era KiiKii is embarking on. We’re still in winter, but KiiKii and their album have us ready for spring and summer!
