Are you a new fan of Lapillus? No worries, we’ve got you covered. The group, managed by MLD Entertainment, consists of six members Chanty, Seowon, Shana, Yue, Bessie, and Haeun. Lapillus debuted in June 2022 with their debut single, “HIT YA!”. They are not your typical K-Pop group as the members all have diverse ethnic backgrounds. Each member is one or more of these ethnicities: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Filipino, American, and Argentinian.
It’s no secret that Lapillus has a strong Latin fan base. They recently attended the Mexico Kids Choice Awards back in May of this year and were even nominated for “Favorite K-Pop Group”. Earlier this year, they also embarked on a promotional tour in Mexico and Miami, Florida, where their popularity among their Latin fan base grew immensely. Following a successful promotional tour, they were able to attend Premio Lo Nuestro, a Latin-based award show.
Their recent performance at KCON LA 2023 – Day 3, after winning “Road to Max”, left a huge impression on fans who attended the show.
“ULALA (SPANISH VERSION)”
In June 2023, Lapillus released their second mini album, ‘GIRL’S ROUND Pt. 2’. This mini album has a total of six tracks, including the single, “Who’s Next”. However, they didn’t stop with just one single to represent the album. Taking it up a notch, the group later released a Spanish version of one of the album’s b-sides.
Lapillus’ tracks have always had a Latin flair as seen in tracks like “GRATATA” off of their first mini album, ‘Girl’s Round Pt. 1’. However, releasing a Spanish version of an already beloved track is a change in dynamic for the K-Pop industry and makes them stand out.
“ULALA” already has so many Spanish and Latin influences throughout its sound, so it only makes sense for Lapillus to release a Spanish version. “ULALA (Spanish Version)” also has an accompanying music video. The MV focuses on the members of Lapillus dancing and singing with warm colors of orange, red, pink, and yellow changing in the background.
We here at POP TOKKI are very excited to see what they come up with next!
