Le Sserafim took the world by storm as they released their first studio album, ‘Unforgiven’. The album showcases the passion of diverting from the norms of the K-pop industry and proves that no matter the path chosen in their craft, Le Sserafim is here to stay. The album rose to fame on Korean charts as they took the top 5 positions and it also peaked at number 66 on Billboard Global 200, and 36 on Billboard Global Excl, U.S.
“Unforgiven” features a few songs that we already know and love such as ‘Impurities’ and ‘Blue Flame’. However, the album also gifts us with newer tracks that will leave you addicted to their sound.
The title track on ‘Unforgiven’ is “Unforgiven” (feat. Nile Rogers). “Unforgiven” has a unique concept as it gives off a Western, dance-pop sound and grew in popularity quickly. Alongside “Unforgiven” is “Eve, Psych, and the Bluebeard’s wife.” With over 54 million streams on Spotify, the Jersey Club beat and addictive lyrics led to a major success of the song.
Following the success of “Eve, Psych, and the Bluebeard’s Wife,” Le Sserafim continued to push boundaries & experiment with their sound. It was shortly revealed that remixes of the song would be released. To the surprise of many, one of those remixes would include Japanese-British musician, model, and actress Rina Sawayama. With her sophomore album hitting number 3 on UK charts, sold-out tours, and spots on 50+ album of the year lists, many were excited to see what she would be bringing to the table in collaboration with Le Sserafim.
Collaboration:
The remix puts a fun twist onto the original track as it is Le Sserafim’s first all-English track. It has an addictive beat, sweet whistle tones, and a grungier, faster-paced chorus. Along with the change in sound, Sawayama showcases her flawless harmonies, and presents us with a powerful verse on the song. Not only is her voice amazing, but so is her homage to women around the world who continue to defy the norms. “This goes out to the women who are shakin’ history up. We’re flawless and we’re fearless, deserve to have some fun.” She sings.
The girl power exhibited by both Le Sserafim and Rina Sawayama is radiant, and we had the fun we deserved as we listened to the track! Who would you like to see Le Sserafim collaborate with next?
