MISAMO Deliver A Work Of Art With Debut Album ‘Masterpiece’

MISAMO — TWICE’s subunit featuring their Japanese members, Mina, Sana, and Momo, have made their long-awaited debut with their first album ‘Masterpiece.’ The title of ‘Masterpiece’ for this 7-track album is well-deserved, as each song truly lives up to its name. The fierce trio demonstrates their prowess as they guide us through an album packed with various styles, sounds, and genres.

You can look, but you can’t touch! MISAMO makes this clear in their single and title track “Do Not Touch.” This track is easy to listen to due to the trio’s melodic vocals gracing the chorus. There’s just enough going on with the track to create a mellow and dynamic sound without exaggerating the elements of the song. The elegant atmosphere the ladies create perfectly fits the music video of the same ambiance. MISAMO stunned their fans with the music video for “Do Not Touch” for many reasons: their beautifully captivating outfits, the graceful yet bold choreography, and those iconic hats. You know the hats with tassels down to the floor that drag gracefully along the floor as the trio devours their choreography. Truly a serve.

MISAMO explores different genres throughout ‘Masterpiece’ including R&B and a Jazzy music theater track— “Behind The Curtain.” “Behind The Curtain” provides a traditional musical theater ambiance through a dynamic piano and vibrant percussion instruments, elevating the listening experience. The trio takes on R&B in the song “Rewind You,” a smooth mid-tempo song using R&B elements such as a simple drum kit. “Marshmellow” is another R&B-inspired track that comes from this album. “Marshmellow” has a warm, mid-tempo classic R&B tone like “Rewind You” but incorporates a catchy Pop melody during the chorus.

MISAMO has established themselves as a powerhouse subunit through this album.
