Zerobaseone also known as ZB1, has been announced as the group to come out of Boys Planet, an MNET survival show where idol trainees compete for a spot in a nine-member boy group set to debut after the final eliminations. Throughout the show, trainees could compete through different missions to showcase their capabilities, and after 12 episodes, 18 trainees were left in the competition. The last episode revealed the official lineup of the group.
ZB1 is already gaining attention internationally due to the diversity of the lineup. Boys Planet hosted 99 trainees of all different ethnicities, mostly from Korea, China, and Japan. Trainees were split into two groups: K Group, which was the Korean trainees, and G group, the international trainees. The show made history by debuting three international trainees, one of them being the center of the group.

Han Yujin

Han Yujin’s hometown is in Gyeonggi, South Korea. Before Boys Planet, he was a trainee for a total of two years and three months. He was one of the youngest trainees on the show. In the show, Yujin gained attention as one of Korea’s most-loved trainees and was one of the members of the group that had more Korean voters than international.
Kim Jiwoong

Kim Jiwoong is from Gangwon in South Korea and can speak Korean and Japanese. Before Boys Planet, he was a trainee for a total of six years. He debuted in a group called INX under the stage name Jinam but the group disbanded shortly after their debut. Other than being a trainee, he was an actor in Don’t Lie Rahee, Kissable Lips, and Roommates of Poongduck 304.
Kim Gyuvin

Kim Gyuvin was raised in Seoul, South Korea. Gyuvin was a trainee for three years and 11 months before participating in Boys Planet. He has said that his role models are ATEEZ’s Hongjoong and San. He gained attention in Boys Planet for his relationships with the other trainees and strong visuals. Throughout the show, he has made a noticeable improvement, which was another thing that caught the attention of voters.

Park Gunwook

In Boys Planet, he was known for looking intimidating to the other trainees but having a playful personality.

Initially, Ricky gained popularity for his video introduction on YouTube before the show started, creating a catchy phrase for himself, “Young and rich, tall and handsome. I’m charisma boss baby Ricky.” Other than his introduction video, he was known for being a visual in the show, and for having a strong stage presence.
Seok Matthew

During Boys Planet, Hanbin secured the number one spot after each voting ceremony every time except for the final. After evaluating the show’s signal song, Hanbin was picked as K-group’s center spot for the official performance. Before the show, he was a trainee for one year and eight months. He studied at the Department of K-pop Performance at Dong-Ah Insititute of Media and Arts and was a background dancer for Wanna One and BTS in the past.
Zhang Hao

Zhang Hao is from Fujian, China. He is trilingual, speaking Chinese, Korean and English. Before the show, he was a trainee for one year and three months. He gained attention in the first episode by performing with a violin. Before coming on the show, he was a music teacher, teaching students how to play violin as well. He has a teacher’s license and said if he didn’t debut he would go back to teaching. He made history as the first foreign center of an MNET survival show.
ZB1 members, other than Zhang Hao as the center, have no official position. The group is set to debut in July but will be making their first public appearance at Japan’s Kcon on Sunday, May 14.
