MNET’S BOYS II PLANET LAUNCHES THIS SUMMER WITH STAR MENTORS AND GLOBAL TRAINEES

The K-pop survival scene is heating up again this summer! Mnet has officially revealed its full expert master lineup and unveiled teaser visuals for its highly anticipated global debut project, BOYS II PLANET.

The show will premiere in two parts: BOYS II PLANET K on July 17 and BOYS II PLANET C on July 18, both at 9:20 p.m. KST. Produced by the powerhouse team behind I-LAND, I-LAND 2, Girls Planet 999: The Girls Saga, and BOYS PLANET, the two groups will first showcase their talents separately. Originally, Mnet planned for the two shows to debut separate boy groups. However, the format was later changed. As the competition progresses, both narratives will merge, leading to the debut of one final group instead of two.

This world-scale project aims to form K-pop’s next global boy group by bringing together diverse trainees’ unique personalities and stories from around the world.

Who’s Leading the Trainees?

The “Pro Master” lineup features 10 industry veterans, each an expert in their field. They will guide trainees not only in technical skills but also in overall artistry. Divided between the two groups, the lineup includes:

BOYS II PLANET K mentors:

LEE SEOK HOON – Vocalist and former mentor on PRODUCE 101 and Boys Planet
KINKY – Renowned dancer from STREET MAN FIGHTER
KANY – Global choreographer for top-tier artists

BOYS II PLANET C mentors:

KIM JAE JOONG – Global idol with years of industry experience
XIAOTING – Kep1er member debuted through Girls Planet 999
JRICK – Veteran choreographer for elite K-pop acts

Additionally, ONESTAR, HYOLYN, BAEK KOO YOUNG, and JUSTHIS will support both teams, offering fair and balanced training and evaluations.

ZEROBASEONE members SUNG HAN BIN and ZHANG HAO, who debuted and rose to fame through BOYS PLANET, will also return as “Special Idol Masters” to guide and inspire contestants as relatable idol mentors and role models.

On June 12, Mnet released the full contestant profiles, with 80 participants under BOYS II PLANET K and 74 under BOYS II PLANET C, following the withdrawal of six trainees.

To build hype, the show also rolled out mood posters and global trainee visuals, each featuring lyrics from the signal song. The performance of the track, “올라 (HOLA SOLAR)”, premiered during the global showcase on June 12 via YouTube, TikTok, and the Mnet Plus platform.
