With 9 members, TWICE has a lot of talent to share. We have seen many refreshing concepts from the group and continue to be stunned by the various attributes that each of the members possesses. Nayeon, one of the many main vocalists of TWICE, owns every concept that is thrown at her. Not only can she embody the concept, but her vocals will leave you remembering any track that she’s on. As there are many memorable vocal moments from the star, Nayeon shines in a lot of TWICE’s title tracks.
The Feels
Following the avid success and viral TikTok dance trends, the public has become very accustomed to “The Feels” by TWICE. “The Feels” describes the feeling of having a crush on someone and having your heart stolen by them. The bubbly dance track has a colorful and fun vibe along with the music video. Nayeon closes out the bridge of the track with lyrics “Baby, my eyes reveal that you you you give me the feels” followed by a chilling high note that truly replicates the feels you get when you’re crushing on someone. Nayeon paid homage to TWICE’s own lyrics because she has stolen our hearts with the passion she radiated onto this song.
I Can’t Stop Me
“I Can’t Stop Me,” the first track on the album ‘Eyes Wide Open’ is one of TWICE’s most notable title tracks. The choreography, lyrics, and concept perfectly fit the definition of refreshing. Nayeon gives this song extra flavor not only by opening the song but also by showcasing her high notes during the final chorus. If there is anything we know about Nayeon, it’s that there is power and impact behind her voice. Her vocal moments in this track are very memorable and she continues to give it her all. She said it herself, you can’t stop her!
Dance the Night Away
There’s no way you didn’t get up and dance to this song. “Dance the Night Away” is exactly like what the title sounds like. A hype, bouncy, dance song. Twice has a thing for dance tracks and we can’t blame them because they kill it every time. Nayeon did what she does best and hit her post-bridge high note, ultimately adding to the fun of the track. The build-up to Nayeon’s high note feels like the moment right before you shoot a confetti popper. It’s already so much fun, but the confetti is just the icing on the cake. Overall, the carefree song and music video leave us wanting to drop our worries and dance the night away!
Crazy Stupid Love
On more of an angsty note, “Crazy Stupid Love” is a track dedicated to the end of a relationship. It speaks about the anger and frustration that one might feel while dealing with a partner who is dishonest and disloyal. The relationship began well, but over time, their partner began repetitive and dismissive behaviors. Near the end of the song, we hear Nayeon sing about how she’s had enough of being in this relationship. She explains that there are no longer any feelings and that she will be gone. As she sings this line, we can hear the passion and desperation in her voice, replicating her gut-wrenching emotions during a breakup. Not only did her vocals stand out in this moment, but so did her skill for embodying various concepts.
Cry for Me
Nayeon once again closes out the bridge in “Cry for Me,” a song that depicts a love-hate relationship with a lover who has hurt them before. “Come on, cry for me. Make your rain fall, Fall and fall now, yeah.” We hear very strong, supported vocals from Nayeon in this verse and we can hear how badly she wants this love interest to feel strong emotions toward her that she may have felt herself. It can be difficult being hurt by someone you love and sometimes you want to hurt them the same way they hurt you. Well, in this case, that is exactly what Nayeon wants.
Overall, Nayeon knows how to embody any character that is given to her. She flawlessly pulls off every concept and not only plays the part physically but also vocally and emotionally.
