5th Generation superstars BOYNEXTDOOR have just released their third EP, ‘19.99,’ today (09/09). The title ‘19.99’ symbolizes that intense moment just before turning 20, the most passionate time in life. The EP, which includes the pre-release track ‘Dangerous, ’embodies the group’s creative vision. These self-producing all-rounders are not just performers but are deeply involved in every aspect of their music, from composition to lyrics. As the members are either in their twenties or on the brink of turning 20, BOYNEXTDOOR’s music uniquely blends their interests, strengths, and talents. The group’s exploration of youth’s immature yet innocent dilemmas reflects their journey from teens to twenties.
“Nice Guy“
“Nice Guy” is the lead single from ‘19.99’. The song “Nice Guy” features BOYNEXTDOOR’s free-spirited and candid lyrics, expressing the overflowing confidence of a 19.99-year-old who believes that determination can charm anybody. It was created with the help of executive producer ZICO and leading producer Pop Time, resulting in an uplifting track that combines musical sophistication and wide-ranging appeal. The track is a testament to the sextet’s self-producing prowess, with JAEHYUN, TAESAN, and WOONHAK participating in the lyrics and TAESAN and WOONHAK contributing to the composition.
The “Nice Guy” music video, released on HYBE LABELS’ official YouTube channel, features K-pop’s free spirits embarking on a journey through their first part-time jobs. Their initial naive optimism fades as they encounter comedic setbacks that challenge their confidence, including a flower-shaped pizza being rejected by a customer and dogs at a pet daycare running away when one tries to read to them. Despite these challenges, their positivity shines through, highlighted by vibrant dance sequences infused with flirtatious charm and bold energy. Each member’s take on being a ‘nice guy’ is expressed through distinctive gestures and expressions, vividly capturing the endearing attempt at sophistication of someone on the brink of adulthood.
