Joining the Hip-Hop and R&B label AOMG in 2020, DeVita has proven herself among the K-Hip Hop and K-R&B community. DeVita, also known as Chloe Cho, was first seen on a reality talent TV show in South Korea. DeVita was active in the music scene before ever debuting, sharing music on her SoundCloud. She also collaborated with the K-Hip Hop artist, Ugly Duck, in 2018 on one of his songs. Jay Park took her in and she debuted on April 9, 2020, under AOMG with her first EP ‘Crème‘. Releasing her EP album ‘Naughty‘ on May 17, this will be her third album since joining AOMG.
‘Naughty‘ features 8 songs total; “Naughty Girls: Intro”, “Ride For Me” (Feat. DAWN), “Deserve” (Feat. Coogie), “Naughty”, “Don’t Know You”, “Make Up”, “Tell Nobody” (Feat. GRAY), and “Naughty – English Version”. The EP is composed of DeVita expressing her feelings and emotions, showing different sides of her throughout the album and her flavor in music. She also features three popular K-Hip-Hop and K-R&B artists throughout her album.
The track “Naughty” is best described as a pop and hip-hop fusion that has an addictive melody. ”Cause you make me feel naughty, yeah, Naughty, yeah Naughty, yeah” The lyrics of this song express the desire to be loved by someone that is showing mixed signals. The music video focuses on DeVita finding a doll on her doorstep that she envisions as her actual love interest. Throughout the video, DeVita is seen interacting with the doll as she would with her real love interest. The doll she interacted with for most of the music video looks similar to the love interest who finally shows up at the end of the video. “Naughty” features both a Korean and English version in the album, getting that hook stuck in stuck in your head.
The second song of the EP, “Ride For Me” (Feat. Dawn) is another track with a pop and hip-hop fusion, blending well with DeVita’s passionate tone. The use of autotune throughout the song adds to the texture of the song without taking away from the natural sounds of DeVita. Both artists in the song are portrayed as being in a toxic “situationship” that they both cannot leave because they know they got each other in the end. In the music video, we see DeVita dancing with other girls in an alley-inspired space. We can also see DAWN joining in with the dancers during his verse.
