One of South Korea’s most acclaimed singer, Kim Feel, returns with another genre-
bending EP ‘LIFE’, the long-awaited third EP of the singer. Feel first rose to fame as the runner-up of Mnet’s talent show series Superstar K6, and is now best known for his OST works for famous K-Dramas such as Itaewon Class, It’s Okay To Not Be Okay, My Liberation Notes, and My Dearest. While Feel is continuously growing his catalog with digital singles, collaborations, and OSTs, it’s been seven years since his last EP ‘From Feel’ and four years since his first studio album ‘Yours, Sincerely’. We can finally hear Feel in a much longer record to fans’ delight.
True to his name, listening to Kim Feel makes us feel the meaning of ‘LIFE’ in his every soulful serenade and deep, oftentimes heartrending, personally penned lyrics. Opening the EP is the pre-released single “You”, a strong ballad carrying the angst of having someone deeply missed. The strong emotions underlying “You” bring out Feel’s signature flavorful raspy belts.
“LIFE”, the title track of the same name reflects the reality most of us live in. With
lyrics, “The days I’ve been deceiving myself, The process doesn’t matter, it’s a result-
oriented world, I want to live my life for my own”, “LIFE” conveys the truth of the kind of life society forced us to lead and the strong desire to break free from it laid overcaptivating whistle hook and soft percussion offering comfort in every listen.
B- sides “Illusion”, “mumble”, and “Salvation” plays around influences of jazz, soul, funk, blues, rhythm and blues, and pop in an effortless combination showcasing Feel’s genre-bending prowess very common in his releases. With EP ‘LIFE’, Feel once again wears his heart on his sleeves through music only he can do best.
