TOMORROW X TOGETHER is a group known for their daring fashion. From rocking half-skirts at Lollapalooza to becoming Dior brand ambassadors, TXT has sported some iconic looks over the years. One of their most iconic eras was The Chaos Chapter: Freeze when they were promoting “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)”, “Anti-Romantic”, “No Rules” and more. Their fashion from these promotions was among some of the greatest looks in their career. Here are “the on1y shining glow” outfits from TXT’s Freeze era that we can’t stop thinking about!
Otherworldly Concept Photos
We can’t talk about cool outfits from ‘The Chaos Chapter: Freeze’ without mentioning the outfits from this era’s concept photos. In Boy, the members sport a casual mix of streetwear and athleisure. These looks are elevated by accessories such as Hueningkai’s headphones and Yeonjun’s beanie. Meanwhile, You highlight a more romantic side of TXT. In this album version, the members are dressed up for date night, showing off “boyfriend”-esque outfits that are slightly more formal than the outfits of Boy.
Perhaps the quintessential outfits of ‘The Chaos Chapter: Freeze’, however, are the outfits from the World concept. Donning princely military jackets, boots, and lace in these photos, TXT captures the essence of both ‘Freeze’ and the lyrics of the title track “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)”. The stylist of this photoshoot, Heo Ji-in (“Rakta”), stated in an interview with Kaufman that Martin Margiela’s Artisanal Collection was the inspiration for these looks. Martin Margiela is a designer for the French luxury fashion house Maison Margiela, which is known for its deconstructive fashion with pieces and materials sourced for each outfit from all over the world. Maison Margiela collections further take influence from high-end dressmaking of French fashion (“haute-couture“). We can see the inspirations from Maison Margiela in the way each piece of TXT’s outfits looks recycled, or deconstructed. Lace has been added to each of them and many different intricate textures have been layered together, creating essentially a maximalist hodge-podge piece reminiscent of French royalty. Yeonjun’s outfit in particular is stated to have been made with a vintage wedding dress, which was cut up and stitched onto the rest of the outfit to create the iconic look.
The accessories of these looks are also worth mentioning; one of Hueningkai’s eyes is covered with a heart-shaped eyepatch, while the dangling earrings on both Yeonjun and Taehyun are reminiscent of sharp hanging icicles. Beomgyu’s crown additionally adds a pop of color to an otherwise desolate landscape, while emphasizing the regal, royal appearance of these outfits.

Grunge Outfits that Reflect Inner Chaos
‘The Chaos Chapter: Freeze’ is known as the era that kickstarted TXT’s relationship with emo music and punk rock, showcasing an image of troubled youth. This is especially reflected in their stage attire of the era. Their first stage outfits for ‘The Chaos Chapter: Freeze’ were for TOMORROW X TOGETHER COMEBACK SHOW FREEZE with M2, where they wore black and white grunge outfits for their “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)”. Grunge is at its core a counterculture that aims to defy societal norms, including fashion, and is characterized by second-hand clothing (or otherwise worn-looking clothing), layering, loose clothing, and a general dressed-down look. As such, these outfits for the comeback show feature non-form-fitting layered tops full of rips and fraying which deemphasize their body figures, paired with torn jeans and Converse shows. Yeonjun, ever the daring fashionist, also wears a skirt that aligns with the androgynous, gender-nonconforming look of grunge. Similar grunge outfits were also worn in the ‘Frost’ Special Performance Video as well as in the music video for the choreography version of the “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)” music video.
Fashion Has “No Rules”
Every MOA is familiar with these stage outfits for “No Rules” after a now-iconic fancam of Soobin went viral from M2’s COMEBACK SHOW FREEZE. The ensembles are an eclectic collection of formal business wear and athleisure, forming a sort of organized chaos. Considering that the lyrics of “No Rules” describe a teenager’s confusing life during the COVID-19 pandemic, where lockdowns disrupted everyday life, the outfits make a lot of sense. During the pandemic lockdowns, everyone, especially students, had their daily routines utterly destroyed. Suddenly, pre-covid rules were out the door. There was more free time, time spent doing nothing, and infinite unscheduled time when classes and work were online and daily commutes were unneeded. Much of society’s expectations were flipped on their heads, such as getting dressed appropriately, waking up at a certain time every day, and spending only limited time on leisure activities. Indeed, much like the “No Rules” stage outfits, pandemic life was organized chaos. One could even say that the mix of suit jackets and slacks with sweatpants and hoodies is reminiscent of people’s outfits for online meetings taking place on Zoom, Google Meetings, and the like since many people would only dress appropriately on top, but stay in their pajamas bottoms since others couldn’t see their whole bodies like they’d be able to in person. Somehow, though, the eclectic fashion still works.
“I was fine to die”
“0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)” is a song that alludes to death, drugs, and desolate, empty ice – extremely morose subject matter for a love song. Because of this, TXT’s team employed mild imagery of violence in their styles to convey the themed chaos. As such, blood is a running motif in “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)” stage outfits, like the one worn for KBS’s Music Bank (modeled by Soobin and Beomgyu above). Bright red sequins, ribbons, and lace lay in stark contrast to the pristine white and black outfits to create the illusion of dropping blood. Soobin’s Music Bank shirt makes him appear to be bleeding from his neck, while Beomgyu and Hueningkai’s arms and torsos look like they are bleeding too at M Countdown. Elevating the ties between death and love are blood motifs in the shape of a heart, like the one on Beomgyu’s Music Bank outfit. The bleeding hearts are so engrained into The Chaos Chapter: Freeze era that TXT even wore them for their “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)” opening stages for their 2021 world tour Act: Lovesick, pictured below.
Agents of Chaos
Yes, this is where the infamous Harley Quinn Soobin photocard originated. For the Music Bank 2021 First Half Special, TXT went all out for the themes “Heroes vs. Villains”. As mentioned before, the costumes for their “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)” stage are an homage to Harley Quinn a henchwoman to the supervillain Joker in the Batman comics. The rendition of Harley Quinn in the 2016 Suicide Squad movie is famous for her twin pigtails which are red/pink on one side and blue on the other. These signatures are emulated in Soobin, Beomgyu, and Yeonjun’s dramatic eye makeup and Taehyun and Hueningkai’s hair. Soobin is also wearing Suicide Squad Harley Quinn’s iconic bomber jacket to host Music Bank (although it is taken off for TXT’s performance). Each member is donning graphic t-shirts that look worn and, in Taehyun’s case, bloody, tying into their overall grunge-inspired look of this era. These graphic tees add even more red and blue to the ensemble. Further elevating these outfits are the chokers and chains adorning the members’ necks and wrists, as well as the heartshaped beauty marks that emulate Harley Quinn’s deadly feminine aesthetic. Yeonjun and Taehyun’s lip makeup is also smeared, mimicking the Joker’s trademark bloody red lips. These looks suggest a villainous lifestyle of fighting and chaos, fit for both Harley Quinn and the Joker.
Space: The Final Frontier
The looks for the M2 COMEBACK SHOW FREEZE “Magic” stage, as well as the “Magic” music video, appear to be straight out of a sci-fi movie, with chunky combat boots, black shiny pants full of complicated zippers, and form-fitting tops with strange patterns on them. Hueningkai even has clear glasses/goggles to add to the futuristic look! That’s because the plot of the “Magic” music video is a thrilling prison breakout, with TXT escaping robots in space. However, sci-fi fans will be delighted to notice that not only are the outfits cool, but they also pay homage to one sci-fi franchise in particular – Star Trek. Indeed, the space uniforms TXT wears appear to have been inspired by the pioneering science fiction television show that was popular in the late 20th century, specifically the uniforms worn by the crew of the USS Enterprise in Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Other homages to Star Trek can be seen in TXT’s spaceship in the music video, as well as the look of the androids watching their trial/performance. These outfits are both an exciting look and a cool easter egg for Trekkies.
