Joining the immense world of K-Pop can be overwhelming, especially with so many established groups having large discographies. With so many new groups that have debuted in 2023 and dozens already rumored to debut in 2024, you may feel overwhelmed. Don’t worry POP TOKKI’s got you covered. Here’s our list of 5 rookie groups to look out for in 2024!
ONE PACT
Coming off of the hit 2023 survival show Boys Planet, Jay Chang, Yedam, Jongwoo, and Seongmin join ex-Ciipher member, Tag, to form super-group ONE PACT. The quintet debuted with their 1st Mini Album, ‘MOMENT’ on November 30, 2023. The album consists of 6 EDM influenced showcasing ONE PACT’s undeniable vocal prowess. Their title track “Must Be Nice,” carries a nostalgic feeling that takes us right back to the sonic legacy of 2017, where K-Pop’s running infatuation with future bass was unavoidable.
Their creative process is evident through their self-produced music video to “Rush In 2 U,” the fourth track on the album, as well as Tag’s overwhelming involvement in the composition of the album. Check out “Must Be Nice” below and be sure to look out for ONE PACT’s activities in 2024!
NOMAD
Many K-Pop fans are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the normalcy of debuting minors in the industry. If you’re looking for a group that consists entirely of adults, NOMAD might be for you! Meet DOY, Sangha, ONE, RIVR, and Junho. Gearing up for a February 2024 debut, NOMAD has been introducing themselves to the public through a combination of group and unit, solo covers, videos, and pre-releases. The group has already released 2 pre-releases, “Lights on” and “Eye to eye,” produced by renowned Korean R&B producer, Cha Cha Malone. Check out “Lights on” below!
GEENIUS
The members of GEENIUS have been preparing for their debut since 2018, originally set to debut under BlockBerry Entertainment under the name BEBEZ. However, GEENIUS was able to find a new home under House Of Music Entertainment. Yeyoung, Sion, Mika, Zoe, and Andamiro started anew on January 5, 2024, where they made their debut with single album “Voyage.” Check out the music video for “Voyage”!
QWER
If you’re looking for something a little different from the traditional K-pop composition, check out QWER. The 4-member girl band was formed off of the inspiration of the J-Pop sound, drawing inspiration from various anime single openings. Under Tamago Production the girls have their own YouTube show called OSHI NO GIRLS, which documents their road to debut with their CEO.
Chodan, Magenta, Siyeon, and Hina are all proficient in various instruments, showing advanced musical sensibilities that are worth a listen. QWER made their debut on October 18th, 2023 with single album ‘Harmony from Discord.’ Check out the music video for “Discord” below!
NEXZ
JYP Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment are home to NEXZ, a 7 member boy group formed off the Japanese survival show Nizi Project Season 2. NEXZ is comprised of Tomoya, Yu, Haru, Ken, Seita, Yuhi, and Yuki. The group marks the second collaboration between the companies following the massive success of Japanese girl group NiziU. Despite their debut date being unknown, NEXZ has already released a pre-debut single “Miracle” in December 2023.
If the track is any hint of what’s to come, NEXZ is gearing up to carve out a name for themselves. “Miracle” follows hollow percussive with lush vocals and string arrangements. This combination creates a sonic profile that is both inventive and absolutely relevant. Check it out below!
