On Apr. 28, global sensation JO1 made history, headlining the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Japanese Heritage Night. JO1 is the first Japanese idol group to headline this event celebrating Japanese culture. Their groundbreaking performance ended the evening on a powerful note, combining entertainment with cultural pride.
JO1 also launched the “WHEREVER WE ARE” campaign, with the goal of raising donations in partnership with their fans to support communities in need. This effort recently gained international recognition at the United Nations Headquarters.
At the Dodgers event, JO1 presented a $50,000 donation to the Dodgers Foundation in support of victims of the recent Los Angeles wildfires. The check presentation took place on the field following a ceremonial first pitch by renowned Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. After, JO1 and Murakami watched the game together from a VIP suite, with the group honored as special guests of the evening.
This event followed JO1’s sold-out U.S. tour and a memorable appearance at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, proving the group’s growing influence in the music scene.
JO1 recently released a “Best Of” album to celebrate their 5th anniversary, featuring the title track “BE CLASSIC,” a reinterpretation of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. The single has been a major success, topping Billboard Japan’s Download Songs and Hot Shot Songs charts as of April 2nd, and reaching #1 on Japan’s Orion daily sales chart after its release.
The music video for “BE CLASSIC” has also gained attention globally, surpassing 26 million views. An English version of the hit track was released on April 28th, following the group’s mission to connect with fans worldwide. With their unique blend of music, cultural representation, and social impact, JO1 continues to shape a bold new narrative for Japanese artists on the global stage.
